I've tried to make this thread before, but it usually gets diverted. I'm curious if any of you fellow zoners have met any players currently on the Cowboys roster, or have heard any stories about guys. I just want to know what kind of guys I am cheering for on Sunday.

Ware strikes me as a really professional, soft spoken kind of guy. Witten seems to be an old fashion country boy. Romo is the gee golly all american kid. Canty strikes me as kind of obnoxious. Bradie James seems to be a very vocal guy in the locker room. T.O. seems to be a very polite reserved kinda guy. Aside from that I really have no idea.

I've met the two former Pats on our team (and our HC) because in the
90s' I taught summers at the school where the Patriots trained, and saw the players everyday. This was pre-Super Bowl rings and total mania. Then there was little fanfare and players were not just accessible, but a normal part of the environment each summer.

Drew Bledsoe is a sucker for kids. Savvy fans coming on campus would 'borrow' kids knowing Bledsoe would stop doing whatever he was doing (which was usually the hike from the dorms or the meeting rooms/dining center to the practice field) to sign anything flung at him by a child. They used to have a "Fan Day" once a camp that they actually got rid of becaue the line of people waiting for handshakes and autographs never moved because if a fan used a kid to ask for 20 autographs from Drew, he would comply. That Parenting Foundation Bledsoe runs is a legit extension of his true passion - raising kids and raising them right.

I taught Japanese exchange students doing an intensive English program in the summer before third year in a US school living with a US host family. Many of them were football fans and used to criss cross campus taking player photos. Bledsoe was invariably the target and he had a rep for being pleasant and accessible, but professionally distant. He once showed some of my students how to grip a football, and the kids loved to go to the 3 PM practices after class.

My feeling on Bledsoe was he came over a a bit of a cold fish compared to the very ebullient types, but he was sincere. I heard plenty of 'stories' over the years, but will keep them to myself.

Terry was just as he is now...sweet, shy, and a loner.

Awful similar to his leadership skills on the field, he looked terrified out there.

Romo seems like a guy you would hang out with, and play video games, go out looking for girls. Your average Joe

Only thing is Romo has got MOXIE

Funny you mention that, I'd agree. I've heard of T.O. going to nightclubs and 'buying out the bar' for locals even though he doesn't drink - must not be too bad of a guy.

Thanks for making me feel bad about my feeling towards Bledsoe. In all honesty, it has never been nothing personal against him I just did not like his play on the field as a Cowboy. Still makes me feel bad though...I will get over it.:p:

Michael Irvin used to do the same thing, except he drank himself! He wouldn't let you buy a drink for him, he insisted on buying!
