Playing for the Cowboys

After watching countless hours of National Media coverage about the Cowboys impending "demise" I couldn't help but wonder, who would want to put up with this kind of crap.

I mean, there was a time, not very long ago, that players wanted to play in Dallas. The facilities and general surroundings were a place that was very inviting. But now? If you're a star athlete, wouldn't you think twice about dealing with the circus? When losing to the Cardinals, a probable playoff team in their own house in OT was seen as inexcusable.

I can never remember the venom which today's sports columnists spew their personal hatred for a team. Maybe players will start saying; "%$& that stuff, I want no part of that. And that's too bad.

They know that Jerry spends the $$$$ for great or potentially great players, their talents will be greatly show-cased, and they have a huge chance of being a contender. (well you would think)

People are always going to want to play for Dallas cause they have an owner who everyone knows will pay, and pay well, for talented players, they get lots of national exposure (Even though it's often not as fun as it would seem), and they're going to have a chance to potentially be on a contending team.

That will simply never change.

I agree with Clove and Braveheart. A lot of the opposing players you see spewing their hatred toward Dallas would jump at the chance to be a Cowboy. Ditto for the ex-coach talking heads. If Jerry called one of them today, he'd be at Valley Ranch before Wade could finish packing.

I don't know if we have the same draw as we used to. This team has turned into a travelling circus. It seems everyone has their own radio show, blog, etc...

These guys should be concentrating on football and distancing themselves from the extra-cirricular personal appearnace stuff - IMO.

This team brings on the scrutiny by the media because of the way it has played and the things it does to draw attention, period.

It's been that way for years and years. I heard the same thing in the 70's.

IMO, it's Jerry's job to make this team a draw, talked about all the time, etc.. It's the coaches job to make the team play hard.

Jerry has given Wade everything he needs to succeed, all the guy has to do is win, Jerry has done everything else. So players see this, coaches see this as well. Cowher almost seemed as if he were auditioning for Dallas with some of his comments the other day that were posted here.

He never really ripped Dallas or the organization, just basically saying what he thinks the problems are. He wants in, IMO.
