Has this been mentioned yet? If so, sorry, missed it.

Dallas Cowboys (9-5)

Clinches playoff spot with:

1. win and Giants loss or tie OR
2. tie and Giants loss

Philadelphia Eagles (10-4)

Clinched playoff spot

Clinches NFC EAST title with:

1. win and Dallas loss OR
2. win and Giants loss/tie OR
3. tie and Giants loss

Green Bay Packers (9-5)

Clinches a playoff spot with:

1. win and Giants loss or tie OR
2. win and Dallas loss OR
3. tie and Giants loss

If we lose to the Commanders, we just handed the NFC East to Phily, and handed Green Bay a playoff spot, leaving one last gasp.

JUST WIN BABY!

I just know the Giants are gonna catch fire and not lose another regular season game so we can't lose anouther game.

Man this is gonna be tough to sweep two division opponents.

I don't know if my heart can take the next two weeks, but if they pull it off, oh how sweet it will be!

I don't see how Philly clinches the NFCE Division title by winning and having the Giants lose. We'd have to lose to, or else, Week 17, if we tie them record-wise (by beating them), the Cowboys win the East.

If we win out we win the division. simple as that. There are no excuses for not winning out except that we don't have the heart or cojones to do it.

#2 & 3 are Incorrect. Philly winning & the Giants losing doesn't give the Eagles the NFC East title, as they'd still be only 1 game ahead of Dallas ( provided Dallas wins this week ) & there would still be a tie-breaker possibility if Dallas were to win the following week over Philly, thus giving the NFC East title to the Cowboys.

This is correct. If we win out, we win the division. From NFL.com:

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION

If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in common games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss

So if both Dallas and Philly win this week and then Philly loses to Dallas in the finale, the Cowboys win the division based on head to head match-ups.

If my original post was incorrect, apologies. I wrote it verbatim from yesterday's USA Today.

Ok so I might be wrong but what happens in the event that there is a 3 way tie between dallas, philly, and new york? We own the tiebreak over philly and new york owns the tiebreaker over us but the eagles own the tiebreaker over the giants soooooo.......my head hurts. It is possible for the 3 of us to end up 10 and 6 isnt it?

If there is a three way tie for the division, then we are the odd team out. For a three way tie to occur, we'd all have to finish at 10-6. And unless the Packers finish at 9-7, we would also be out of the wildcard race. In other words, the next game vs. Washington is critical for us.

This isn't complicated. Dallas and GB both need to gain 1 game on the NYG i.e. 1 loss by the Giants and 1 win in the next two weeks.

Philly clinches if Dallas loses and they win as they'd be up 2 games with 1 to play.

The Giants have Carolina and Minny so hardly a cake walk.

It would be a very big blessing for Dallas to play Philly with both teams owning playoff spots and merely playing for the division title.

No you didn't.

What, you want me to take a snapshot of the paper, upload it, and post it? I wrote the parts, as my post title indicated, regarding DALLAS, verbatim. I didn't bother to include the entire NFL. Now go away. Far.

You would be amazed at how much the media doesn't understand about playoff scenarios and seedings.

Just an example, when I was leaving New Orleans on Monday, the local radio guy on WWL AM 870 in New Orleans claimed that the Eagles had already cemented themselves as NFC East champions with their win last weekend. He called the Dallas win over the Saints a win for a desperate team clinging to their final hope for the playoffs.

Philly loses its last two. Dallas loses to Was and beats Philly. NY wins out. In that case I'm not certain who wins the division. I think it boils down to the best division record but I'm not sure.

That is true.

We were sitting in this EXACT situation last year, and missed the playoffs. We'll see what happens last year.

We cant lose again though, let alone twice.

The important thing to remember guys is if Dallas wins the last 2 games, they are the NFC Eastern Division Champs!!!!

If we lose to the Skins, we are screwed. WE DO NOT CONTROL OUR DESTINY WITH A LOSS TO THE SKINS!!!!

We will have to hope either Green Bay loses or the Giants lose. If they both win out, we are sitting home.

Bottom line.......If we lose to the Skins, we probably dont make playoffs.

Which is why I hope we pounce on them early like we did the Saints. Kill their confidence and take their heart early.

We win out and we host a playoff game and win the division for the second time in three years. It's that simple.
