Playoff Scenarios

To make the playoffs, we must first win out (vs Vikings, vs Chargers, @Commanders, @Giants), then hope for one of two scenarios.

Win East Divison
1. Eagles lose tonight and lose two more (Commanders twice, @Buffalo, vs Raiders)

OR

Wild Card - Pass two of Chicago, San Fran and/or Detroit. Two of the teams below have to fall below us:
1. Chicago goes 1-3 - remaining games (vs Cleveland, vs Green Bay, @San Fran, vs Lions)
2. San Fran goes 1-3 - remaining games (vs Tenn, @Indy, vs Chi, vs Sea)
3. Detroit goes 2-2 - remaining games (@LA, vs Steelers, @Vikings, @Bears)
I think seattle could lose 3 (or 4? ) and could be one of the teams we need to lose.

I’m trying to avoid toxic optimism but it’s not impossible. The Eagles can easily split with the Commanders and lose to the Bills. Tonight’s Eagles loss was huge. Also with the way they’re playing on offense they may have trouble with the Raiders and Max Crosby. Not counting on a loss to the Raiders but it’s realistic they lose to the Bills and the Commanders.

But then there’s a part of me that is not 100% sold I want to make the playoffs. That would guarantee Eberflus is coming back and give Schotty credibility. So for instant gratification I want to make the playoffs but I think the greater good would be to get blown out of the water so we can get a real DC in here. I also am not sure I want Jerry thinking we’re a playoff team and the go into passive mode in the offseason. Just being honest. It’s been a weird year.
Im with you. I think if they get embarrassed in a playoff game, it'll be the only way to possibly get rid of Eberfake. Right now I think Jerry brings him back and waste another year

Man, I love see Jalen Hurts throw the game away like that.

They should have tried the FG.

Dumb aces.
You don't really think they should have went for a FG on 1st and 10 from the 18 yard line with over 2 minutes left, do you? What they needed was their QB not to be a mental midget on that play. But he was never good throwing into coverage. His entire game is throwing when defenses are selling out against the run. Besides, as far as the Cowboys were concerned, a tie would have been just as good as a loss. A FG would have done them no good.

Eagles need to lose 2 of 4
unfortunately they have 3 very easy games
As crazy as it seems that is the issue for the Eagles. Playing Washington twice and the Raiders provides little motivation. It’s hard to win like that. One of those three games will go down to wire.

What an awful QB display for NFL players last night. Outside of Herbert’s runs it was so bad

It's not easy beating a division rival twice in 3 weeks. No matter how the season is going. There is just so much familiarity If we were in their place, would we feel confident?

Was rooting for the eagles tonight just so we could put this "there's a chance" and "playoff scenarios" threads to bed. Focus on what we can do to improve next year so we can get back to the 1st round of the playoffs and lose.
You rooted for the Eagles to end our playoff chances so that The Zone fans could “focus on what we can do to improve next year?”

Because you know that an Eagles win last night doesn’t mean that the actual Cowboys team is going to forfeit the rest of the games and do a late year training camp for next season.

It’s just an interesting take.

If you want the team to tank the last four games for draft position, that at least would make sense I suppose.

There is just one small issue.......the Cowboys have to win out.

Some are looking at the schedule and they see"win", "win"...."win".

There isn't a team remaining on the schedule that the Cowboys couldn't lose to.

Ya the Cowboys aren't getting a wild card.

We can beat all these teams. This Chargers team isn't all that..

And neither are the E-girls.
And neither are we all that. Given the inconsistent play from this team all season, I highly doubt that we win four straight. It's pretty sad when we have to hope for teams ahead of us to implode just to play a meaningless playoff game.

It is a miracle Dallas has any shot at all given the start and lack of any plan prior to the QW trade.

Good news is the direction now seems sound and while they need like 3 starting defenders STAT they do get 2 R1 selections to help.

That is not happening. Seattle is a very good team this year. They just can't beat the Rams.
Seattle and the Rams will tool us in the playoffs even if all the Cowboys playoff miracles come to fruition. I think the Rams will probably rep the NFC this year.

None of those scenarios look good right now.
