i thought that the lowest seeded team would play the highest seeded at each level. in other words, if the 6 seed wins their game against the 3 seed, then the 6 seed plays the 1 seed and the 2 seed plays the winner of the 4/5 seed game. they show that the saints play the winner of the eagles/giants game regardless - is that right? if that is the case, i am much happier with the 5 seed than the 3 seed, because we have a better chance IMO against the Bears than the Saints, and the possiblity of the Eagles or Giants beating the Saints is not too bad. Of course, if we play like crap, it doesn't really matter, does it...???

Yeah, the lowest seed plays the highest seed at every level. That chart is misleading people into thinking the road would definitely go from Seattle to Chicago. If the Giants were to win, they'd play Chicago and we'd go to New Orleans. Unless I'm mistaken...

You are assuming Dallas can beat Seattle.

You guys are 100% right. The bracket is off. The lowest seed plays the highest at every level. If the Giants win (well actually make the playoffs first, then win) then they would travel to play the Bears and the winner of our game would travel to NO to play the Saints.

It even says it, so yeah...

"During the regular season, the NFL Playoff Race Bracket and Seeds reflect how the playoffs would stand if the season ended up to that point. The NFL playoffs are not based on a pure bracket system. In the divisional playoffs, the No. 1 seed is assured of playing the lowest-seeded Wild Card survivor. There are no restrictions on intra-division games and the higher seed of any matchup will have home-field advantage."
