Yeah true, the reason I left WR off my list is the group we have needs time to grow and learn at this level, also if you look at any of the receivers coming out next year only the Ole miss kid fits our profile and he will be long gone before we pick unless we have a loss season. Maybe the kid from Texas but next years WR class will be just like this years, a group of protenially great # 2’s but no dominant #1’s.S,WR, DL seem to be trending right now. I'm curious how this changes as the players prove these perceived needs to be true or false.
WR is obvious, but CB is a big one. What are you currently doing at CB? No big money, no first round picks. One guy in the second. You’re throwing darts at a Dart board in the dark. What % of guys work out after the first round? 35%? “But They’re all amazing in pads!” Odds are only 1-2 will work out long term. Put a first round pick in that group and those 1-2 will become the 2nd and 3rd cbs on the depth chart, making the secondary that much stronger. It’s basically the only position on the entire team you haven’t put major resources into. “They’re good enough for now, they’re coming along, I bet they’re pro bowlers in 2 years”.... Why bother gambling on it? You know who talks like that? Detroit. You know who does something about it? New England. Pittsburgh. Houston. Jacksonville. Go count the amount of guaranteed money in their secondaries. The amount of first round picks. Top 10 picks. Count the number of Top 10 picks and guaranteed money on Detroit’s cb group. Indianapolis’s. Oakland’s. Miami’s. Dallas’s.
Safety is because the Jeff Heath Fan Boys are running out of excuses.
More excuses.Heath was having to cover half the field last year due to the inexperience of Woods, Awuzie, etc. His strength is run defense, meaning he needs to be near the line of scrimmage, but he was running sideline to sideline most plays. Can't be effective that way.
Did you not see the stop he made on Carr last year? And who knocked down the pass the play before, that if completed was a td for the Raiders? Heath. That was a pass defense play he made. Those plays were made because he was close to the line of scrimmage where a strong safety should be.
Heath isn't perfect, but he's a darn sight better than some think...
More excuses.
He made some good plays occasionally, the Raiders game plays were memorable but hardly justify him playing 16 games. He made some very poor plays and whole lot of non-plays as well. If he's a liability in coverage, you can put him near the lone of scrimmage all you want; NFL QB's and OC's are going to find him and exploit him in coverage.
Byron Jones was a first round pick. So, I guess we are set then? Sweet.
Well, no **** our secondary is cheap. They recently cleaned house. We once paid a corner #1 money and drafted a CB in the top 10 and paid Scandrick decently for a slot corner. Didn't go as expected.
DT trumps all of that. Your CB's don't matter if you're weak up the middle.Went CB, WR, QB in that order.
The year after this you’re going to have to decide on Dak’s contract. Here’s the reality with Dak: he didn’t cost you a lot of resources, so parting with him will be no loss to the team. He will cost a ton, and if you feel you have a shot at a top QB in the draft, you have to consider it. Eagles take Wentz even though they have Bradford. Vikings take Culpepper even though they gave big money to Cunningham. Brees-Rivers, Flacco-Jackson, Manning-Warner. You either have an elite QB that can win championships by himself, or you don’t. On the flip side, if he plays great and you want to extend him, a 2nd or 3rd on an insurance QB is always a great idea. How many times do you see teams do well after the big guy goes down? Flynn, Garappolo, Foles, Romo, Prescott, Kolb, Rodgers after Favre left. It’s more valuable than half the starting guys on most rosters. Foles is more valuable than our weak side LB, Garappolo meant more to the Patriots than whoever happened to be starting at RB when Brady was suspended. Rush is young but greatly unproven. Get a guy with clout.

Because Bellychickens once spewed "You can never have enough CB's" which caused a monstrous overvaluing of the position. S, DT, and MLB are all far more important. You're switching Byron Jones's position AGAIN? Why?
Exactly you build championship defenses inside outBecause Bellychickens once spewed "You can never have enough CB's" which caused a monstrous overvaluing of the position. S, DT, and MLB are all far more important.
It is crazy how so many sheeples took this innocuous statement and changed it around to make CB's the most valuable D position. Don't get me wrong, you need good CB's. However, w/o S's over the top, MLB's who stuff the middle, and a DL that can control the LOS and collapse the pocket, good CB's are rendered ineffective.Exactly you build championship defenses inside out
