there is no plan.
there is no rebuild.
this gm doesn't see or think beyond the next game.
this f/o will do what it wants when they decide.
there is no plan.
there is no grand vision.
full speed ahead 24/7.
While I think he has no plan to win, Jerry absolutely has a plan: Marketing. It's all about the money.

I voted soft rebuild that will take two years. The front office will just never admit it.

I think that was the plan behind trading Parsons; which was not a "win now" move. With four first round picks the next two years the hope is they can "quietly" rebuild the roster while still remaining competitive.

But the defense is so putrid a five win season looks like the ceiling right now.

It’s not clear to me what the long term strategy or plan this front office is following to improve this roster. So I thought I would ask the fan base.

I occasionally hear the “soft rebuild” term thrown around, which can mean different things to different people. Others may say we are in a complete 1989 style rebuild where the roster will need to be harshly churned. While to some this front office either doesn’t have a discernible plan outside of marketing their team or is just winging it.

What say you? What’s the plan around here?
The Plan?
Well, it's to make money , and lots of it you silly boy!

Jerry has always been reactionary and not methodical.

If any planning is being done at all, it has to do with money/cap aspect.

Roster building is done by trying to fill holes based on looking back at the season that just ended. A legit, well thought out five year plan in 2020 would have put this team in a much better position. Reactionary thinking leaves you creating holes as you fill other holes. It leaves you with an unbalanced team.

I voted Marketing players…butts in seats and bottom line $$ is what’s important. Keep Cowboys in the news; sell merchandise. Lip service to Super bowl etc but Jerry’s already in Canton.

At some point we have to take Jerry at what he says over and over....he likes to hang around the rim. Thats the plan, just be good enough to be relevant without sacrificing too much of your ability to be an OK team the next year. The Cowboys philosophy seems to be that if you are average for long enough you should get lucky at some point and make a superbowl run.

I would have loved to chose that this FO has no plan.

But that wouldnt be true. And with your option about marketing i had to chose that option.

Not that i think the FO is about marketing players. Its more about marketing the brand and that also includes to market certain players.

If it pays do it.

I am so excited for what is to come. Times could not be brighter!

GO JONESES!!!!

That pic of Jerry’s scribblings…could we have found the plan for the future?
Just going by what the Jones men have been saying, which I know is dangerous, I think the plan is to go forward with the offense, possibly adding another RB. A rebuild of the offense would be stupid. The draft picks, trades, free agency are all part of the plan to do a soft rebuild of the defense. The defense can be significantly improved by learning the system this year and using resources this offseason.

I believe the defense, or certain players, will improve as this season goes along, but I also believe this season is lost unless the front seven gels and sticks to their responsibilities. I definitely believe the defense can become respectable and possibly middle of the pact with 1 successful off season. We want, but don’t need, a top 5 defense. As this offense grows with the young OL and we add another real RB to the mix, even a defense that’s 15-20 will allow the team to compete with anyone.

Hitting the Lottery  Oh?? You meant...Dallas future.... After 30 years? How much more future time do any of us on the wrong side of 50 have? 30 more years of this. How many of us in here will still even be around:oops:

I voted for what is happening and not what I want to happen. I fully believe Jerry is expecting to make the layoffs this year

There's no plan.

As long as the team is around .500, people will have interest in the team.

If it falls way below .500, Jerry will tell his minions to make a trade.

Why change something that has been so successful?

joke
You're actually right. Just different definitions of what success looks like.

Fans - Superbowl
Jerry/Stephen - Team Valuation increase

Fans - On the field success
Jerry/Stephen - Cheap additions who could possibly be diamonds in the rough regardless of how bad the success ratio is from the past

Fans - Proactive/plan in place for on the field success
Jerry/Stephen - Wing it with whatever is leftover funds from profit used, boat's bought, court cases settled

Bingo!

So I'd expect a trade most likely happening after that Broncos game.

The contracts are given, it's time to double down or blow it up.
We've got the Offence and me for one (and I'm usually a CAP worrier) think we have to re-sign Pickens (a failure to do so is the biggest waste of the contract Jerry gave Dak).
For an 83 year old it'll be an expensive, long rebuild (even if he could trade the players that would bring back anything of worth).
Sack Flus, it's just not working and he hasn't got the respect of his players.
Spend money on a DC, that can play a style that can get the best out of what we've got....promise him proper FA money and all 4 of the 1st Rd picks.
Jerry, go out in a blaze of glory ....or at least trying....your son and heir will need to employ a proper GM to sweep up the mess when you're gone in any case.
