It’s not clear to me what the long term strategy or plan this front office is following to improve this roster. So I thought I would ask the fan base.

I occasionally hear the “soft rebuild” term thrown around, which can mean different things to different people. Others may say we are in a complete 1989 style rebuild where the roster will need to be harshly churned. While to some this front office either doesn’t have a discernible plan outside of marketing their team or is just winging it.

What say you? What’s the plan around here?
Mr Haze---No matter how out of touch front office is...Jerry being master Marketeer ....even the well know Mike Fisher says that

Jerry is a master Marketeer who just happens to own an NFL franchise?...i believe on some level Jerry wants a superior NFL

team that can compete for Super Bowl trophy...but him and his son Stephen compromise Jerry's desire to put together a true

NFL team that can compete for Super Bowl...Stephen loves to be in the black every season...we know Stephen is often called

things like the CAP bowl winner...so even when Jerry passes away we might be in worse shape???...the old Jerry could be

a "wild Mustang" risking money and future draft picks to get a player that might put us over the top because it did work in

`1992 when we got Charles Haley...many believe initially we could not have won super bowl 27 without Haley...i believe it too

We know in off season free agency teams pay Great money for only Good players etc etc..and for Great players teams

often set new records in biggest contracts....what i can never understand is why front office "waits and waits" until they

have no recourse but to spend a lot more money retaining good to great players????.....i think Stephen is so fearful

or maybe its Jerry thinking waiting too long shows wisdom????...but i think they have a haphazard approach to future

molding of the team....Jerry hangs on to bad coaching way too long....and now refuses to hire best coaching that might

confront front office if they are going down a bad road?...so their haphazard style can look like no plan at all...just my humble point of

view?????

Short---you did nail it on that one

I selected full speed ahead because they have a plan.

Its the plan they've always had which is to make no dramatic changes but merely move and exchange a few of the pieces every year.

Old Zeke to Dowdle to Williams, to whoever they can get cheap next year.

Kendrick to Sanborn, to whoever else another team doesn't want.

Its full steam ahead with a side order of status quo.
Shabazz----decoded cowboys secret plan of developing a super bowl winner??????

They are not going to tear it all down with Dak still playing at a high level. They will try to do a soft rebuild until he is no longer with the team.

I think 7 new players would make this team incredibly improved. I would attack these positions in the draft and free agency.

2 LB's, 2 Safeties, A dog DT and Another DE on Defense.
On offense a RB to add to Williams is all that is needed.
Wow, hitting on 7 players is a tall order.

It is sobering to think we need this much overhaul.

Yep, Jerry (like my octogenarian mother) is ever more concerned about every penny and wont do what's necessary (with a concerted ALL-IN spend) to take a specific stand, as we know he just continues doing what he knows (annual relevancy, and hope).

The whole 'plan' and the way Jerry see's it can be encapsulated in the 'Pickens 2026'......Jerry will do the usual "it/he worked, but can we do it for cheaper". Whereas, as you say, THE PLAN, needs to be re-sign Pickens and add Defense.

Jerry's belief that making the first move (as it's a sign of weakness?) kills any negotiation position. Have a conversation with Mulugheta, about the price....that at least starts the planning. I just fear Jerry will see Flournoy and Mingo as same production (at half the price).....going the cheap route again (even he will acknowledge we need to spend those 1st Rd draft picks on Defense).

Yep, but the question may be, if we play a Scheme that better suits what we've got do we need7?

Id be looking at 'Flus not just with what he's doing with this roster, but what he'd do with 2026 Draft. To me it looks like the 1st Rd Defensive players (certainly outside the top 10) shows a wealth of multi-role front 7 players.....I JUST DONT THINK EBERFLUS IS FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO SCHEME FOR PLAYERS.....HE'S A 'YOU ADAPT TO MY SCHEME' (CAP's for effect).

There is no plan and we may as well accept it.
This is saying he's going to sit on the four 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders and I don't think at all. He's literally begging teams to call him with offers. Now we may agree that Jerry isn't very good at trading or roster building, but to say he/they have 'no plan', I disagree

The plan is to keep selling merchandise and headlines off the field…..and that’s about as far as Jerry can get….

Oh I agree with you about needing what you described. I’m just saying that adding 7 players on defense has to be considered some kind of rebuild.

Seems clear we can’t move forward with many of the guys on defense we are counting on this year.
Rebuild isn’t in our owners vocabulary . In Jethro’s mind an admission something is wrong with current roster which he still believes in.

While I could see us using one of those 1st round picks on defense I wouldn’t necessarily guarantee both.

Let’s see if we resign Williams at RB and Pickens at WR. If we don’t I wouldn’t rule out using a high pick for either or.

And wouldn’t rule out using one of those picks this year in a trade to bolster defense if we make any appearance this season is worth salvaging.

Jethro is always only focused on the year at hand. And my hunch is as long as Dak is playing at this level our owners eyes are going to be on the present.

The Parsons trade wasn’t an acknowledgment we are in rebuild mode . Those picks were simply a consolation for a contract negotiation gone bad.
