Was mowing the yard last night and started pondering all of the positive factors we have moving forward. Here are my top 10...

1. I bet we are one of the younger teams in the NFL right now. Ellis is older, but is more of a role-player right now. Fergie may have a replacement on this team with Ratliff or Johnson. WRs are a bit old, but on the average we should be considered a team with many players in theri prime.

2. We are cap-friendly, with several key players signed to long-term deals or in early negotiations. The yearly salary cap increase will help us keep players like Ware in the future as well.

3. Excellent youngish QB in his prime.

4. 2 first round pick next year.

5. An owner willing to dish out the cash to bring in needed talent.

6. A very acceptable head coach with a possibly brilliant offensive mind waiting in the wings.

7. Our division is getting weaker by the day.

8. The focus, attention and prestige of our franchise has reassumed pre-eminence in the league. This further encourages ownership to spend and aids in recruitment of high-profile free agents.

9. A scouting department that seems generally capable of making the correct draft-day decisions (especially in later rounds).

10. The (huge) O-Line has (finally) stabilized and will continue to mesh and integrate over the next season or two. We even have some nice depth with Free, McQ and Marten. In the next 11 months one of them very well may be able to take over for Flozell on a long-term basis.

BONUS!!

11. New billion-dollar stadium will be ready after next season!

It's way too early to even include the word 'dynasty' in the conversation - let's win a playoff game first - but I'm liking the direction this club has taken since Parcells came along. The dark ages of the early 2000's have mercifully passed.

There was absolutely nothing merciful about the last 7 or 8 years.

There are alot of over excited people on this board lately. Dont forget we were cruising to a division title last year and mysteriously couldnt play the last 1/4 of the season. They play the games for a reason. Let's win a division and a playoff game first.

4. 2 first round pick next year.

To me this is key for maintaining our competitive edge over the next few years if we use them wisely.

The benefit to having multiple 1st rounders is that we can use them to move up and take a blue-chip player or we can trade one for a 1st the following year and a day-1 pick that year. Or we can simply stock ourselves with 2 high quality players. The thing is that we have excellent options available to us and can use them in various ways depending on the quality of the draft in question.

Not reaching for projects but taking quality players has helped us over the last few years. I attribute that more to Jeff Ireland than to Parcells as he tended to go after guys he likes whether or not they are the best available or a need. This year's draft was excellent IMO particularly on Day-1.

It is nearly impossible to build a dynasty in this era of FA and the salary cap but we are in a very good position to do so.

While I would tell you to tap the brakes on this a little bit, I would be lying if I said I didn't think of this EXACT thing several times in the last couple of weeks.

If we don't blow these two #1's, and get 2 really good players, I think we are definetly on the verge of something special.

Kudos to you though, cause I was too much of a chicken to post it !!!

Thanks, I knew a would catch a bit of flak for the D-word, but the meat of my post was simply to list the way the positives were lining up for us. OH, I did not add one more...

12. Dan Snyder is NOT our owner.
