Source: Cowboys fear RB Lance Dunbar will require season-ending knee surgery based on preliminary evaluation of MRI. Recovery time: 3 months

Per Ed Werder on Twitter

This absolutely stinks.

Will Lance will ever be able to stay healthy? Doesn't seem like it. Must be tough for the kid after he had such a nice game.

Oh God. That's bad. I feel terrible for him.

Yesterday, he was going to play in Chicago. Now it looks like his year is done.

He's a good player, but he just can't stay healthy.

Lance, we hardly knew ye.

Oh well, get healthy and come back and make a big splash next year.

It's more and more remarkable to me how few games Emmitt missed...and for how long he played effectively.

AND...he he typically carried 20-30 times per game. Amazing.

For years now we can't seem to keep any one back healthy for more than 3 or 4 games in a row.

He took a mighty hit to the knee, I'd be surprised if he were to come back this season. Watching the replay it was a very nasty play, to be honest I was surprised they said it was not a big deal, now I'm actually less surprised, I don't think he comes back this season.

As for his injury it is unfortunate, but it opens up opportunity for Randle or Tanner to show if they can be serviceable backups with ~10 CPG.

Injuries are the ugly side of this game and it is unfortunate, but it is a part of it and it affects every team equally, oh well.

Yea, just got done watching Sound FX again and I am amazed what Emmitt did without getting seriously injured. That man was amazing.

Otherwise, the trend continues, we finally start to get some players back and lose others. This team can not find its groove health wise, Dunbar would have been an excellent change of pace back to close out the season.

Huge blow to the offense. He gave the offense an instant spark and looked like he had finally got his speed back. Back to the lifeless running game.

Darn it, it looked like they were ready to trust him to be part of the offense. He sure did seem to have some good speed hitting the holes

Don't know if you ever saw him in person or not, but Emmitt had freaky legs even by NFL player standards and was overall just a lot bigger than he seemed from TV or his program weight. I remember being surprised at that the first time I saw him in camp.
