Really like this 1.....will probably stick with it unless something major happens

Round 1- Aaron Donald DT Pitt- Not a whole lot of discussion needed for him at this point.....

Round 2- Terrence Brooks FS FSU- This is the type of FS we need. Instinctive and rarely out of position. You can tell just watching him play his understanding of the game and of the FS position is head and shoulders above his peers. The only knock on him is his size, if he were above 6' and had 10 more lbs on him I don't think he'd reach this pick. Here's a great video of him almost picking off Tom Savage of Pitt 3x http://draftbreakdown.com/video/terrence-brooks-vs-pittsburgh-2013/

Round 3- Chris Sims RB West Virginia- I'm sure that this is where I'll lose some people but here me out....6' 214 with 4.4. speed and hands like a WR. Sims is a good runner out of the backfield but can also be lined up in the slot and is great at executing screens. I see Sims as the exact type of talent Linehan can utilize in a 2 back set. Add in the fact that Demarco is a free agent after this year and it makes even more sense. This game against TCU showcases a lot of Sims talents http://draftbreakdown.com/video/charles-sims-vs-tcu-2013/

Round 4- Chris Smith DE Arkansas- Short ball of quick twitch muscles. People will automatically point out that Smith is only 6'1, but with freakishly long arms (34 1/4) that head to toe height is irrelevant in my opinion. Smith also had 1 of the fastest 10 yard split times for DL at the combine (1.59 vs clowney's 1.56). 18 sacks the past 2 years in the SEC. Simply put, this kid gets after the QB. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/chris-smith-vs-lsu-2012/

Round 5- Trai Turner G LSU- Came out early after only 1 year of starting experience so he ends up going later than his skill set suggests. Big, physical, and a really good athlete for a man his size. Maybe a little bit of a project that won't start day 1, but definitely has stud potential in the near future. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/trai-turner-vs-texas-am-2013/

Round 6- **Trade 2 7th's for a 6th**
Quincy Enunwa WR Nebreska- 6'2 225 with 4.4 speed. This kid is really interesting and I think his draft stock is way down because of playing in a run 1st system with a less than stellar throwing QB. Did pull down 10 TD's last year on only 45 catches. Also a very willing run blocker.

Round 7- Howard Jones LB Sheppard- Small school project but the size/speed ratio is interesting.

I like it. There are other players I want for round 2 3 and 4. But if those guys are gone I'm fine with these guys. Good players.

Rather see Jordon Matthews, Moncrief or Bryant in the 2nd.
Then I the 3rd a OG like Brandon Thomas or Billy Turner.
4th round I think Jordon Tripp would be a steal.

Like your 5th and 6th.

Look at Avery Williamson for a late round LB.

I'm a big fan of Thomas, Bryant, Moncreif, and Tripp so we are definitely on the same page. Personally, I just view FS as 1 of the more vital positions to upgrade this off season. I don't see a FS currently on our roster and Brooks fits what we should be looking for almost too perfectly.

And I'll take a look at Williamson, haven't heard much about him.

I really like it.

Of course, I don't need to tell you that I love your first round pick... but I really like some of your others too, notably Brooks, Smith, and Turner where you took them. Not sure Turner lasts that long, but would be nice if he did.

I won't kill you for the RB in the 3rd either. I could see it happening and he is a nice player.

I agree with your strategy and picks; I just wonder if the 'Boys will value LB as a more prominent position of need before the 7th, or do you think that Jones is as good a prospect as any of the projected mid-rounders?

We have a long way to go on defense -- need to hit on at least 5 draft or FA picks just for the D: DT, DE, MLB, WLB, and FS.
But WR, G, RB, and QB are also needed. We obviously have no picks to waste.

It probably is more of a need than a 7th round D2 project....just kinda how the chips fell (in my head) as far as not taking 1. I will say that I don't love this group of 4-3 LB's this year though. And I really don't think anything drastic is happening as far as Carter goes so depth is definitely needed, but unless Lee moving to the WIL is possible (which I doubt) I'm not sure how many rookies in this draft class are going to make any kind of impact for us.

Like the overall picks and then reality sets in that we have to draft a QB even if it is just for a backup , I disagree with Brooks in the 2nd feel like the 3rd might be more viable for him just my gut feeling. Love his talent.
I was thinking later in the draft for a RB as the differences are minimal in my mind between the top 10, in my mind the Williams kid from Boston College should go in the 4th or 5th.http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/andre-williams?id=2543565

I like Howard Jones in the 7th and would not have traded up for the WR from Nebraska, when Jeff Janis will probably be available in the 7th.http://nfl.si.com/2014/02/22/nfl-combine-jeff-janis-aj-mccarron/
I am in agreement with you we must grab Donald with that first pick. Here is an example I have been toying with:

Round 1 Pick 16: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
Round 2 Pick 15: Will Sutton, DT, Arizona State
Round 3 Pick 14: Terrence Brooks, FS, Florida State
Round 4 Pick 19: Jordan Tripp, OLB, Montana
Round 5 Pick 18: Andre Williams, RB, Boston College
Round 7 Pick 14: Brett Smith, QB, Wyoming
Round 7 Pick 16: Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley
Round 7 Pick 23: Howard Jones, OLB, Shepherd

I wouldn't touch Drake Nevis.....I mean Will Sutton until the 5th at best. I honestly believe he's going to struggle to maintain employment in the NFL.

And Andre Williams is ok, but he's pretty 1 dimensional. I think Linehan would look for a guy with better hands that he can lineup in multiple spots. Williams is a straight ahead power RB.

Andre Williams in the 5th is a reasonable talent, in the 5th rd you get egg rolls not the main course and he is a good power runner. James White(Wisc) was an alternative but his diminutive size leaves me wanting for a bigger back for pass protection.
I agree with you too early for Sutton in the second, not sure why I even chose him there must of been brain locked, in the third or fourth rd I could make a case, an alternative to me is Easley but his injury history makes me nervous and I no longer believe Gabe Jackson or Hegeman slips to us in the 2nd so I took them off my list.

If any of those are compensatory picks, there's a rule that they can't be traded.

We have 3 7th's. Rosario netted us a 7th from the Bears + we traded our 6th for Edgar Jones and a 7th from the Chiefs. Plus we will have another 2 or 3 comp picks so the likelyhood of us trading back up into the 6th is very likely in my opinion.

I might prefer Brooks in the 2nd to Pryor or Dix in the 1st. I would generally like more size in the secondary, but I'm fine with Brooks (5-11, 198) at FS.

I think you meant Charles Sims. He has excellent size/speed combo, has some value as a receiver and has good effort as a blocker, but I don't see anything special as a RB.

I'm not opposed to a RB here, but he would have to be significantly better than the other options at this pick and I'm not seeing that in Sims.

I don't know if he will be available here. If Dee Ford is big enough to be considered a possible 1st rounder, then size shouldn't be a big issue for Smith either. He's an inch shorter, but his arms are 2 inches longer. I'm not sure how the Cowboys feel about the shorter DEs. I get a feeling that they really prefer taller players, but I'm not certain.

This would be an excellent pick if available. NFLDS just moved him from the 7th to the 5th. I wouldn't be surprised to see him drafted in the 4th. He might be a little bit of a project, but I don't think it will take too long for him to get it. He has good upside considering that he is a redshirt Sophomore. He would probably be a much higher pick if he had stayed in school another year.

Good. They need a good size/speed guy.

Round 7- Howard Jones LB Sheppard- Small school project but the size/speed ratio is interesting.
Good pick.
