Cowboys were in a very difficult draft landscape this season, not having a first round pick as well as picking late every round. They were going to be hard pressed finding even 1 plug and play starter. Looking at the draft class, it suggests they have to make many financial decisions in the coming years:

-Dak (reportedly seeking 30 million), Cooper, Zeke, Bryon, both Collins are all up for contracts in the near future. Team just cannot keep them all, there are going to be hard decisions on the horizon.

-The draft process isn't about year 1 impact, it's an investment over the life of their rookie contracts.

-The team wisely made selections with the future in mind:

-Hill should be in the rotation as a rookie, but is future is the team's starter at the 3. Both Crawford, Collins could be gone in '20.
-McGovern is a future starter at the interior. L. Collins won't be back after next season.
-They drafted two backup rb's at a very low cost. Finally, found their next Dunbar in Pollard. Webber is now the #2 back.
-Drafted a developmental long CB which Richard covets. Could he be groomed as Bryon's replacement in another year?

-I wanted the Safety, but the DT 3T is the most important position in Marinelli's Defense. We haven't had great success at the position since Jason Hatcher departed.

-Really wanted a new aged TE in this deep class, it never materialized.

Time will tell about this year's class, but make sure to watch the next few off-season contract extensions and player departures. If this class is able to replace past production at a much lower cost, it will become a strong class. If we just see a few quality backups, it has the potential to become a 1 man draft with Cooper.
