Huge win last night for sure, as most likely the season was over had we lost. So we're now 1-0 in the unofficial "playoffs". Everyone was looking at tie breakers and who should win or lose this game and that game, but the bottom line is the team just needs o win and they will be in. 11-5 will get them in, which means we need to go 5-1 the rest of the season. 10-6 might get them in trouble, especially if the losses are NFC Losses.

1) OK be honest. After the first series on offense and defense, who was thinking it might be a really long night? I know I was.

2) Awesome game by Terence Newman, definitely one of his best ever. Think how good he looked last night and imagine what he can do once he gets the rust knocks off.

3) Romo was kinda what I expected. Before the game I posted if he wasnt the Romo we're used to seeing would the run game and defense be enough to win, and thankfully that played out. Romo clearly isnt 100% and probably wont be for a few more weeks. I wonder when the splint will come off.

4) Best game by the OL since the GB game. They couldnt allow Romo to get hit alot and they didnt allow many (if any) hits. The run blocking was pretty solid. Felix Jones will be a huge boost to the run game once he returns, he would have taken a few of those runs Barber had for huge plays.

5) How much better is Kyle Kosier than Cory Proctor? ALOT

6) For all of Michaels and Madden's banging on Adams for his two penalties last night, they didnt bother to mention that niether Andre Carter or Jason Taylor made a single play when lining up on him.

7) Jay Ratliff was dominant after the first series. And his play continues to enforce my theory that while he is a pretty good 3-4 NT, he's be an overwhelming 4-3 DT. He just couldnt be blocked.

8) They should really move Henry to FS asap. Give him a crash course in it the next two weeks and stroll him out there for the Pitt game. Jenkins and Scandrick both are way better cover guys at CB right now.

9) If they arnt going to fire Bruce Read, they need to invest in a kickoff specialist who can get alot of touchbacks. It would be an excellent use of a roster spot and save the team alot of field position. They cant say it isnt worth it either because last night they activated ALL THREE QB's just so one could hold for PAT's and FG's.

10) Martellus Bennett is gonna be pretty good.

11) No, we dont need Adam Jones. I hope Goodell does us all a favor and doesnt allow him back. I know Hos thinks he gets reinstated tomorrow, but I really doubt it.

12) Loved Roy Williams' signal of "first down" after that one reception. If he'd have had an 88 on him, I'd have sworn it was Mike.

Bruce read isnt going anywhere.

and unfortunately not only is he here but he brought in the punter paulescu who was pretty bad last night. I know on one side of the field there was a pretty good wind in his face, but he wasnt very good. And he is reads guy from college.

oh and We absolutely do not need pacman and if this team is going to continue to play tough and throw short the ball needs to go to 11 and 82. 81 looked pretty uninterested in getting hit or breaking tackles last night, which is nothing new but it looked more glaring last night.

I was thinking that we should also get a kick-off specialist.

Everytime we kick off, I hold my breath.

A good kickoff specialist could save us 5 - 10 yards of field position per kick-off. It could definitely help our Defense down the stretch.

Who knew Kyle Kosier was that valuable. The oline played great largely because his solidifying effect.

Great recap, once we get Unk back I suspect we would have enough to run the tables.

I thought 12) was really what got the Cowboys going. When Romo threw a few nice passes to Williams, TO, and Witten in the 2nd qtr, the Commanders finally had to back off with the 7 and 8 guys in the box and show a little respect. Up until that point, we weren't going anywhere!

You forgot to mention that our team can't tackle, hold blocks or even know who they are supposed to block. I know it was a division game on the road, but I am getting sick of these ugly wins.

Gotta give Paulescu a SMALL pass. My man was bagging groceries in Kurt Warner's old store a few weeks ago.

I agree. Kosier and the line in general played great. No sacks given up and when Dallas needed to end the game we shoved the ball right down the throat of one of the best run defense in NFL

Those penalties occured cuz he got beat, plus he got beat a couple of other times but Romo got rid of the ball or scrambled away from the pressure before it got to him.

Overall I'd say Adams had a passing grade, but just barely.

If Jerry insist on the pacman--hopefully it's just for punt returns.

Yeah cuz we really miss that 5 yard average per return he was giving us.

He was doing 100X better as a CB then he was as a punt returner before he got suspended.

My honest thought was that it seems most opening drives of Cowboy games are NOT indiciative of how the game turns out.

But I certainly wasn't excited about starting the game in a hole.

The first defensive series of the game was pathetic and I thought we were in for another game of Portis shoving it down our throats - they were pretty much dominant the rest of the game except for a few underneath routes where tackling and pursuit weren't great.

As romo gets better so will the offense. He was rustier than I expected however he will be back to himself and once that happens we won't lose. Fortunately for us the 2 defense we're going up against aren't great so I expect huge games from us. Then by the time we get to the Ravens Steelers Giants and Eagles we will be clicking on all cylinders.

1) OK be honest. After the first series on offense and defense, who was thinking it might be a really long night? I know I was.

Agreed.

2) Awesome game by Terence Newman, definitely one of his best ever. Think how good he looked last night and imagine what he can do once he gets the rust knocks off.

If he was rusty last night then it's scary what level he will be playing at once the rust is gone he was straight ballin'

3) Romo was kinda what I expected. Before the game I posted if he wasnt the Romo we're used to seeing would the run game and defense be enough to win, and thankfully that played out. Romo clearly isnt 100% and probably wont be for a few more weeks. I wonder when the splint will come off.

His timing was off more than I expected however he was in sync with RW. He was off on a couple of throws though. He also made throws that were missing in his absence.

Proctor is terrible.
6) For all of Michaels and Madden's banging on Adams for his two penalties last night, they didnt bother to mention that niether Andre Carter or Jason Taylor made a single play when lining up on him.

Agreed.

7) Jay Ratliff was dominant after the first series. And his play continues to enforce my theory that while he is a pretty good 3-4 NT, he's be an overwhelming 4-3 DT. He just couldnt be blocked.

Agreed. He has to be double teamed.

8) They should really move Henry to FS asap. Give him a crash course in it the next two weeks and stroll him out there for the Pitt game. Jenkins and Scandrick both are way better cover guys at CB right now.

Henry blows he should be cut.
9) If they arnt going to fire Bruce Read, they need to invest in a kickoff specialist who can get alot of touchbacks. They cant say it isnt worth it either because last night they activated ALL THREE QB's just so one could hold for PAT's and FG's.

I don't want to spend 2 roster spots on Kickers however seeing Folk constantly kick 5-10 yards short of the endzone is terrible.

10) Martellus Bennett is gonna be pretty good.

That was a nice catch.
11) No, we dont need Adam Jones. I hope Goodell does us all a favor and doesnt allow him back. I know Hos thinks he gets reinstated tomorrow, but I really doubt it.

I disagree we need someone to start along side Newman since Scandrick is the nickel back Pacman > Jenkins.

RW is going to be huge for us.

Henry would be as bad at FS as he is at CB. He just needs to be on the bench.

agreed. he has zero change of direction quickness now. he couldnt cover a bad tightend at the moment.

Good recap, David.

  • I thought it was a very good performance by the defense, and I thought Newman was outstanding.
  • It's funny about Kosier. Flozell, Gurode and Davis go to the Pro Bowl, but perhaps Kosier was a lot better than any of us thought. Owens mentioned him at least twice in the postgame conference.
  • I really like Miles Austin. Not only is he a great athlete, but he's starting to show some football instincts, too.
  • I loved the anecdote in Mosely's column about Roy Williams talking up the offensive linemen during the last drive. That's the kind of thing that's needed in that huddle. And Roy had a good block on the game-clinching fourth-down play.
  • Martellus Bennett can be Russ Francis or he can be Jeramy Stevens. It's up to him. He has a lot of ability.
  • Marion Barber, for all his effort and success, is still under-appreciated by too many Cowboy fans.
  • Romo has an electric charisma that helps drive this team.
  • Jim Zorn looked like he had lost a family member last night. That was a distraught sideline, which warmed my heart.
