This observation, while not earth-shattering, really gets to the heart of risk and salary cap management. If the front office truly thinks Dak can develop into a franchise-level QB, then they need to change the equation -- they need to change the parameters in which Dak currently operates. The FO basically needs to know by year-end is Dak worthy of an extension. As much as this pains me to say this, I no longer believe he is.

Regardless, the real change begins with a change in coaching. Quite frankly, it is a lot easier to find a decent coach than it is a decent QB (although, in Dallas's case, you could argue that during the Jones ownership period, they have been below average at finding good coaches -- Johnson and Parcels, notwithstanding).
