Dallas Cowboys: Finally, we have the Cowboys, who through pay cuts, extensions and renegotiations are currently $7.695 million under their $119.495 million adjusted cap number with four "Top 80" picks from the 2013 NFL draft left to sign. The Cowboys will gain $2 million in additional cap space on June 2 as defensive end Marcus Spears received the "post-June 1" designation when he was released in March. The Cowboys could have saved $600,000 in cap space without that designation, but chose instead to save $2 million in cap space in 2013 and have Spears count $1.4 million against their 2014 cap.

if you have 4 picks in the top 80 then you have 4 picks. does'nt mean they are top 80 players. that said i think we drafted well

Spears' money basically covers the draft picks. So they are roughly 8m under the cap. Re-do Spencer to a back-loaded 5/40m deal and save another 5m. That's 13m under the cap with room to maneuver or roll it over to 2014, not too bad.

We drafted good players but we should've drafted another OG, OT or DT, DE. But I understand the Cowboys philosophy on building the offense to outscore opponents. That's the only way we'll win this year, IMHO.

i don't know if we will sign spencer or not. but any money we can end the year with we will need next year because we are already over the cap for next year and thats with spencer making zero

They were reported to be 40M over the 2013 cap at this time last year and that was without Franchising Spencer.

The way that the Cowboys structure contracts, it will always appear that they are significantly over the cap the following year.

His comment was literal.

We had four picks in the top 80 picks of the draft; Picks # 31, 47, 74, and 80. He did not mean we got 4 of the 80 highest rated players.

Your cap number is related to that.
