Starting with the AFC.

In the East the Patriots are the no doubt division champ. Buffalo could contend for a wild card, but I doubt that they will. Miami will win a game, but not this week. The Jets will Draft my RB from Arkansas.

In the North, the Steelers are the class of the division and the Browns and Ravens are in the running for the wild cards. It pains me to say that, but the Browns offense is pretty good. They should have sucked this year. Cincinnati decided to do that for them. I had the Bengals as a pre-season wild card. How stupid does that look now? Don't answer that. The Ravens will falter and fade.

In the South, there are 3 good teams led by the Colts. They may be beat up, but they are still dangerous. Jacksonville and the Titans may keep the Browns out of the playoffs. Both are serious wild card contenders. The Texans came back down to earth. You knew they would. I doubt they can leap 2 teams ahead of them.

The West is a mess. Honestly right now I'd say the Broncos are the team to beat there. I refuse to believe the Chargers will clear out of the playoffs, but they could. The Chiefs are better than I expected, but still not good enough. The Raiders are still the Raiders. Time to give the ball to JaMarcus.

1 seed...Patriots
2 seed...Colts
3 seed...Steelers
4 seed...Broncos
5 seed...Jaguars
6 seed...Chargers

Now the NFC.

In the East if anyone expects the Cowboys to come back to earth they simply aren't paying attention. I can't convince myself that 15-1 is possible, but my goodness this is fun. The Giants have to be considered a wild card and the Commanders and Eagles are not far behind. The Eagles slip further behind this weekend. The Commanders could too.

In the North it's obvious the Packers are the class of the division. The Lions have been there all year but they had to win today to convince me they were for real. 10 wins Jon Kitna? Color me a skeptic. I don't see it. I think they will fade clear out of the wild card. The Vikings and Bears are teams in transition but going in opposite directions. Strangely both are a QB away from being divisions contenders, but neither are ready for much beyond that.

In the South I don't know what to think. Pre-season I picked the Panthers and said the Saints would miss the playoffs. I still think the Saints will miss the playoffs, but now I think the Buccaneers are going. The Panthers sure aren't. The Falcons are a train wreck and have been since before the Draft.

The West is a mess in the NFC too. The Seahawks are still the best of the division but I think they'd be 5th in the East. I really do. The Cardinals have a shot at a wild card. The Rams will win a few meaningless games down the stretch. The 49ers will just cause a stench.

1 seed...Cowboys
2 seed...Packers
3 seed...Seahawks
4 seed...Buccaneers
5 seed...Giants
6 seed...Cardinals

Bleh.....I'm not saying I disagree, but I don't like how that shapes up.

I don't fear the Giants, but I hate facing a team we've swept in the regular season. It's nearly impossible to beat a team three times in a season.

I remember sweeping the Zona Cardinals in the regular season only to have them beat us....AT HOME....in the playoffs.

Of course, our team has bucked trends and karma and voodoo and magic 8 balls all season long.

I get what you are saying, but who is better than the Giants? In truth I think they are the 3rd best team in the NFC.

Do you even realize what you said? Complete contradiction.

I have seen Tampa Bay play(buddy is a huge Bucs fan) and if this scenario does come to pass, I can see the Bucs giving the Giants a tough time, especially at home. In fact, I would probably pick the Bucs to win

Not contradictory at all. In fact, it's perfectly consistent with his posting history. He's just saying he believes something to be true without any evidence to support it.

That is absolutely NOT true - even though I've never read any of his posts before.

Here are what my pre-season predictions were, current record in ():

NFC:
1. Cowboys 13-3 (10-1)
2. Panthers 12-4 (4-6)
3. Bears 11-5 (4-6)
4. Seahawks 10-6 (6-4)
5. Eagles 10-6 (5-5)
6. Saints 10-6 (4-6)

AFC:
1. Colts 13-3 (9-2)
2. Chargers 13-3 (5-5)
3. Patriots 12-4 (10-0)
4. Bengals 12-4 (3-7)
5. Jags 10-6 (7-3)
6. Broncos 10-6 (5-5)

Cowboys vs Colts in the SB. Cowboys win their 6th SB title!

Goes to show you just how weird this season has been. No one could have predicted the Packers going 10-1 or the Bengals, Saints, Eagles, & Chargers to have the poor seasons they have had so far.

I knew the Pats would be good but not this good! Who could have known they would be so dominant? I also didn't expect us to be 10-1 at this point, maybe 9-2 :) . I am very pleased with how this season has gone for us so far.

I cannot explain why the Bengals and Chargers have struggled so much this season with few injuries and not much turnover in personnel from last year.

The Panthers lost their starting QB and have not performed on defense like I expected them to.

Weird season.

We've got a pretty good idea of where things are going.

Hos, preseason you had a nice predictions thread, where we did a little more than just list orders, more explanations. It would be interesting to see how our predictions are working out.

I can't find it, though. ;)

The Seahawks have looked improved lately against weak teams. They got surprised by the Browns although it was a close game. We'll see how they do the rest of the way although the schedule is pretty weak overall. They have games left with Baltimore and Arizona.

Even though I live in Florida, I haven't watched the Bucs much so I can't comment on them. I like the Bucs remaining schedule better than the Saints. The Bucs play the skins this week so maybe I'll get a chance to watch that game. The Giants are going to be a wild card team. I think they are a clear number 3 in the NFC. Injuries have hurt them again this year, and I think Eli must get better if they are going to win in the playoffs.

The last NFC wild card team doesn't seem to matter much to me because the talent drop off seems too large. In the AFC, I think the Jaguars (although still a mystery) are better than the Broncos. If the Colts are healthy, they might compete with the Patriots. Barring injuries to the Patriots, nobody else in the AFC has a prayer.

Heres my Pre-Preseason Picks... Current leader ()

AFC East New England Patriots
AFC North Cincinnati Bengals (Steelers)
AFC South Indianapolis Colts
AFC West Denver Broncos (Chargers)
AFC wild card Pittsburgh Steelers (Jacksonville)
AFC wild card San Diego Chargers (Tennessee)

NFC East Dallas Cowboys
NFC North Chicago Bears (Green Bay)
NFC South Carolina Panthers (Tampa Bay)
NFC West Seattle Seahawks
NFC wild cards Philadelphia Eagles (Giants)
NFC wild cards Washington Commanders (Detroit)

Had New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys in the superbowl but after the first game, I made picks again to chart my thought process through the season and changed it to Colts and Cowboys...Its still colts cowboys...

The biggest surprise is the AFC North. The Steelers and Browns came out of nowhere and the Ravens and Bengals are suddenly too old and injured. I thought the chargers were very overrated last year and kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and it finally did in the playoffs. I considered LT overrated too, he was the TD machine but the coaches could have easily spread around the TDs.

Other then the Packers there doesn't seem to be anything else shocking.

I didn't complete an entire playoff scenario - the only prediction I made was:

New England over Saints in the Superbowl.

I think the Bucs are a dark horse, they are not as good as the Cowboys and Pack, but they have a strong defense and "Happy" Jeff Garcia is one of the better caretakers around.

In the AFC...

Don't sleep on the Browns...they can score with anyone and if they can squeeze an ounce of defense from that group they could suprise.

Super Bowl

Pats and Cowboys

I don't necessarily disagree with this. Earnest Graham has also proven he can carry the entire load for that offense and Galloway is still playing lights out. Check out his numbers.

To suggest the Buccaneers might be a darkhorse is a good call IMO/FWIW.
