Ahem. We gather here today to give youse a good send-off, rookies.
We gather it is hard enough to be a rookie among veterans and don't need no more advice. But I will.
Well, I am sure I speak for the Zone, being one of the few not under the supervision of the courts or a jealous woman or on the run via long-haul conveyances.

So, I, Gimmetheball! offer some words of advice.

For those of youse who have signed, welcome.
For those of youse who have not signed. . . .

Who do you think you are?

You are all from a pitch-poor 2009 class of draftees. Nobody expects much from you. You are barely above scrubs, so sign. Don't negotiate because you have no leverege. Call the front office right now and sign. If you are good, you will get a gud contract when you show your skills beginning this week. If not then vamanos adios borscht! as we say in Farmers Branch.

You rookies, class of 2009 aint nothing special.
I've seen better classes with the name of Pittman among them. Hail, I remember 2001 when the names Carter, Blade, Steele, Dixon, Lehr, Stewart, Weatherington, Dorsey and Nix were called. Hail, I was happier with this class than ah was with you last spring.

But let bygones be bygones. Still, we have sacrificed our future 3 years down the road for . . . what? A motley crew of mid-level skill players. Specials teams, they say.

So, rookies, you are special only to your mamas, so you better step it up and quick cause few know your names and won't remember if you don't put out the 100 percent effort under this HC, soft as he is.

So learn the system and focus on them drills.
The economy is really bad. Believe me, you'll need this job.

The Dirty Dozen will get signed. It's not their fault they're not. The Cowboys always wait till the last minute.

Not very excited about this draft, but if it makes our special teams better then I'm all for it. Hard to top a great draft like 08, but I thought we were just a tad too complacent.

All 12 will make the team?????

OK, anything can happen. Wade and Jerra could conceivably "help" them make the team to massage their egos.

But these 12 represent one of the poorest drafts in recent mammary.
I would say, objectively, that 4 or 5, tops, have a chance to make the team.

Let me book mark this... The talent left at the bottom of the roster is overrated..

Funny, this is the first time since 1961, when I went to an exhibition season game against the Packers in the Cotton Bowl, that I have cared little or nothing about how the team does this year. That's Jerry's problem of his own creation, not mine. I have simply quit caring.

After 15 years of losing and late season failures since Jerry got jealous of Jimmy and chased him off, took full credit for everything and hoarded all the glory to himself, I have finally had enough. I no longer care whether they win, lose or just quit as has become their way of late.

As with all Cowboys fans, my best hope is to outlive Jerry but since I am a few years older than he is, my chances aren't as good as most on this board.

Luckily my TV set got wiped out by a storm a few months ago and I no longer feel compelled to watch this bunch of people go lacadaisically through the motions. I can afford a new TV, I just don't yet want one but it's only been about three months now and I don't miss TV at all.

Actually, I would like to care but I just don't see any reason why I should put myself out for a bunch of people who don't put themselves out for anyone or anything except big paychecks and partying.

Billionaire Jones flushing the toilet this spring gives rise to a new wave of hope for this year but the question that hangs over us all is will the players really care whether they win or lose this year or is this yet another in a long line of false hopes?

Life is good - win, lose, tie or just quit - as in last year. I still haven't recovered from that disaster and I doubt I ever will but I also doubt I will ever care anymore. After all, last year is what I have come to expect from Jerry Jones' team.

Where's my coffee? I need my coffee.
