Just thought I'd remind everyone that these games don't matter and the players arent playing at even half the intensity they will be come two weeks from now.

You must not have been paying attention to the D on the first def. drive. They were fired up, after that dont know.

Yeah-alot of things changed the momentum of the game(i.e. the punt return, the penalties on a VERY good Dallas drive, etc)-next thing we know, the Houston crowd reacted like they were winning the Super Bowl.

Well after houston ran that punt back and the crowd went wild our team turned the intensity up. dont care about the colts but we were hyped tonight and didnt execute very well. Hopefully it was because it was PRE SEASON and not beacause of lack of talent.

FWIW-didn't we outgain the Texans like 77-17 in terms of yardage in that 1st qtr?

It was a weird game in the first half, we had the stats in our favor but it just wasnt goin our way. Now, I know this is preseason and it doesnt count but I hope the chips start falling our way this year. By the way, am I the only one who has seen the chips fall the other way since well U know? Yes we did and it would have been higher if not for penalties.

You remember how bad the Colts looked in the preseason last year?

Are you seriously comparing the Cowboys to the Colts? The Colts are an elite team in the NFL, we're just scrambling for consistency.

I would love for the Cowboys to at least be able to beat teams they are supposed to beat, instead of the roller coaster that was last season (or the last couple of seasons, even).

I shouldn't look at our schedule this year and be worried about EVERY SINGLE GAME, because I have no idea how we'll play from week to week, even against subpar teams. It's frustrating as hell. :bang2:

We haven't lost to anyone, just like we haven't beaten anyone. Our record is 0-0.

So you're choosing to ignore the fact that we've been inconsistent for years now?

What do you mean by consistent? Not dominant? Because this isn't a dominant team.

I think if you'll check, we've been pretty good against teams we should beat the last couple of years.

And if you're counting the Texans as a team we should beat... It's preseason. Think the Colts are hysterical because they lost to us in the first exhibition game?

We looked like a highly mediocre NFL team out there last night, on that got beat by another highly mediocre team in a game that was really statistically quite even... the difference in the game was one punt return for a TD, and 2 turnover for the Boys to none for the Toxins... exaggerating the way you just did does nothing for your credibility...

We may as well pack in the whole season. See you all during draft day in 2008.

Preseason results have always relative. Case in point, our team's preseason records before championship game appearances through the years:

Year, Record
1966, 5-1
1967, 2-3
1970, 1-5
1971, 6-1
1975, 2-4
1977, 3-3
1978, 3-1
1992, 2-3
1993, 1-3
1995, 2-3

Regular season results are always the only important factor.

People who take pre-season seriously dont know much about football anyways.

People always say "the cowboys are looking good this year."

based on what? The pre-season?

These "games" are nothing more than glorified practices.

If we play Houston in the regular season its a blowout.

You'd think fans who are hardcore enough to join a message board for their team would be clued into how the pre-season works.

Didn't Oakland go undefeated in the PS last year? Honestly, this loss isn't that big of a deal. Being a Cowboys messagboard reader for a while this type of behavior is the norm. One week, we're the best thing since Atari and the next, we have people saying we're the LA Clippers of the 90's.
