NFL Preseason Power Rankings: Jets blast off, Steelers plunge

No Hall of Fame Game means no sneak peek at two consistent playoff teams. Thus, the annual preseason Power Rankings are flying on instruments, with no preseason football gameage until Thursday night. Much is taken into account in this pecking order, from additions and subtractions since we fired off our last salvo to the most recent news out of training camp. You also will find several nods to the Hall of Fame, as I wanted to empty out my notebook from last weekend's festivities in Canton -- some of the intel is random, some is important.

Following a weekend when pro football honored its grand history, here's a voluminous treatise on the NFL's 32 member clubs. Most teams moved a spot or two since early May. So take a long look and share your take: @HarrisonNFL is the place.

Let the dissension commence!

NOTE: The lineup below reflects changes from our May 4 Power Rankings, posted after the 2016 NFL Draft.

But it has Dallas at #18 that's pretty low.

I don't see them as a top 10 but 18 is too low imo.

Coming off 4-12, it's all you can really expect. Power rankings are kind of silly anyway.

They are but you'd think nfl guys would no more than random dumb fans on YouTube. lol

Any time you want to day the Cowboys will be decent this year and they're a good team all you get it. 4-12. Gee I wonder why we were 4-12? If they knew anything if we had room and dez Dallas would've been at least 9-1 at a point last season.

Seriously I challenge anybody to name 13 teams better than us! I sure can't do it. Hope to hell everything works out better than I'm looking at it! I just wish we brought in one legit de!

Whatever let em hate. We will be a force to be reckoned with. Pass the Kool aid! I'm in.

I just think I'm hurt and feel dumb because I went into last year expecting a sb run. But too much stuff happened.

Well, actually, that is probably higher than if we did a poll on here, as to where most fans would rank them....:lmao:....

I agree and people on here think I'm negative?. I can be a downer but I'm pretty spot on most of the time. At the same time I do miss some simple stuff that makes my negatively seem stupid thanks to guys like you, jstopper and big dog.

I'll try, in no random order.

Pats, Steelers, Bengals, Chiefs, Green Bay, Cardinals, Seahawks, Panthers, Broncos. That's 9.

I think the Raiders will be better. They are a younger version of us with a better defense IMO. That's 10 teams. Vikings look better too so that's 11 teams you could argue could be better. Now it gets dicey. Jacksonville is loaded on defense and at the skill positions. They certainly could be better than us in 2016. So that's 12 teams. Skins won the division and improved this offseason and have a smart GM. They could certainly be better so that's 13 teams.

It's not hard to come up with 13 teams that could be better than us.

I mean realistically what are we? A potentially explosive offense led by a QB that is a question mark health wise and a defense that lacks real stars and talent and is counting on retreads and rookies and inexperienced guys to make major impacts early. This Cowboys team could be really good or be really mediocre. You just don't know.

If everyone is healthy then there is no way the Chiefs, Seahawks, Raiders, Vikings, or Commanders are better than us. Jacksonville actually looks like they could be a good team after being horrid for a long time. But that's just a could, not a currently are. Steelers are also starting to fall off.

Nope. This defense has way too many holes and is counting on too many complete unknowns to think without a doubt, we are better than those 5 teams.

Let's put it another way. If the Washington Commanders were trotting out Mayowa, Tapper, Crawford, etc as their DEs to start the year, you'd be laughing at them.

Yep and who are we trotting out at LB next to Lee? This team could very well go under 30 sacks again this year.
