Parcells used to have a term that he used for certain players... Catalytic .. Romo is one of those guys and he is also the unquestioned leader of this team. What he does schematically for the offense is immense, but you can't underplay what he does for this team emotionally. Simply put, Romo adds a level of accountability to every player on the team. On offense, you do your job, you win. On defense, you get a stop, you have confidence in the other side to score and things become very simple. You work harder to find a way to get the ball back in Romo's hands. It's much different then getting the ball back for someone who is inconsistent. Romo is the engine of the whole thing. If you don't pressure Romo, you are in trouble with this offense. You have two great LB's and a lockdown corner? ok.. well I hope you also have a slot guy to over Beasely on the option route. It's like chess with Romo. He studies what you are doing and then just rearranges the play to attack it. You may fool him early, but by the 4th quarter you are out of tricks and he's going to score points. This should be a fun game to watch.

0-7 without Romo. 3-0 with Romo.

I'm not seeing where we are a "bad team". I'm not entirely sure why some of you have yet to get it, the missing piece was our franchise QB.

We are a bad team, Romo is just a very very good player. He can make up for some, but not all the garbage the team is made up of. The team has the talent to win without Romo, they just don't. There is a reason for that. (hint, Garrett)

Why does it seem that we are particularly vulnerable in crunch time when teams abandon the run and go into their 2-minute drill?

All teams are more vulnerable in that scenario, mainly because the team that is behind is in 4 down territory. Instead of needing to average 3.34 yards per play to get a first down they only need 2.5 yards per play average to keep the drive alive. Four chances to turn a big play is greater than 3 chances and a punt.

OK, I love the optimism but we are a bad team. We lost 7 in a row against some pretty lousy teams and just beat another lousy team who were so bad they fired their head coach.

Seriously, I love the optimism but until this team strings some wins together we are definitely a bad team with one of the NFL worst records

Records of the teams we lost to was 39-31.

Carolina has already almost blown a few games this year when they had what appeared to be comfortable leads late in the game. Indy sent the game into overtime after looking like trash for over 3 quarters. They were down 23-6 with only ten minutes left.

Once you wear down Carolina's front seven a little bit, that secondary is vulnerable.

If Dallas is within 10 points going into the 4th, they're winning this game.

Well that totally makes your argument that a team that hasn't lost with their starting QB is bad with him starting valid.

I would respond to this, but I have no idea what you're trying to say here. Consider re-wording this sentence so we can discuss

I'm extremely glad to have Romo back whether me make the playoffs or not, it's interesting to watch football again. We'll miss him when he's gone, as we missed him this year. I'm sure the entire NFL is wary of Romo erasing this regular season and by some miracle making it into the playoffs.

Without Romo in all but three games, the rushing game is still ranked 8th in the nfl in yards and 9th in yards per attempt. We've been better with McFadden and I'm surprised that he didn't become the starter from the get go; maybe we could have won a game or two had he started.

I'm still concerned with the secondary, but I'm hoping that the defensive line generates more push, especially as the offense improves. If we can get by the Panthers, that should buy this team the time it needs to get back on the right track. That being said 2 of our most difficult games come within the next three weeks. It'll be important to go at least 2-1 in this stretch, if not undefeated. Packers have lost 3 of the last 4 games and are looking pretty ordinary right now. With their schedule and how they're playing, the Packers might miss the playoffs and despite everything we shouldn't ignore the even remote possibility of a wildcard berth.

We've got a top 10 running game and our defense is ranked 11th in yards allowed per game and 15th in points allowed per game (I don't think ESPN adjusts for points resulting from special teams or the offense). Given the slow start due to injuries and suspensions on the defense, I think we haven't seen their best yet. I think these linebackers are still gelling together, and I think the defensive line when put in position to do their best, will perform better, and as a result so will the secondary.

The Cowboys and Panthers are mirror opposites when it comes to takeaways, but I don't think that will be the game that we see on Thursday. Sunday was a warm up, and I expect to see shades of the rest of the season in this game.

The idea that people actually think this is a bad team is pretty ridiculous. Are we 3-7? Absolutely, but are we the same as any 3-7 team? Obviously not. We'd probably be at least 9-1 or 8-2 if Romo had played the whole season. I'd still fire Garrett for playing conservatively through a 7 game losing streak though. Romo hasn't lost a regular season game when healthy since December 15th 2013... I know a lot of people think that is creating our own stat, but it's true. He won his last game in 2013 and went out injured. Lost his first game back and was clearly not himself. Got hurt against Washington and lost that game as well, and played on the shortest week ever and was not himself either.

When Romo is healthy he wins. He has the best defense he has had in years and we can still run the ball.

Establish the run, move the chains, control the clock, and don't turn the ball over. We can beat Carolina.

Good write-up !!!!!

Why does that matter? Our record is 3-7. We had every opportunity to win all of our games save the Pats game and fell apart in each of them when it mattered most.

3-7 is a bad record and this team that everyone suddenly thinks is unstoppable has that record. Injuries or no

It's about you actually keeping things in perspective. No one thinks this team is unstoppable, some think we have a good chance of winning every game we play the rest of the year. I agree.

I wish I could have whatever it is you are taking so I could be optimistic, too.

Right now I figure we are about tied with Cleveland for the worst record and a lock to get a at least one of the top 3 picks in '16.

With that and not resigning Hardy..

we should be able to find 4-5 new players in the draft and FA to finish the rebuilding.

That would make me happy.

I hate to be depending on miracles to pull out a lost season..

?? Not losing the rest of the year is unstoppable.

How the hell did you interpret it that way?

Some fans think there is a CHANCE we win out because we have a team capable of doing that. With Romo, we haven't lost a game. Obviously, no one is saying this is certainty. Carolina and Green Bay is going to be tough, if we can pull out wins against both of them, we should take the two Commanders games, and Jets and Bills.

That's fair. Personally, I agree we have a chance to win out. However, so do the Browns, technically. Just because we have a chance doesn't mean we're a good team--yet. Until we prove otherwise, I see a 3-7 team that dropped 7 straight.

Our team is the 3-0 team, that's the point. We are finally healthy, we finally have our players back at key positions and they are all gradually getting healthier. With Romo, I seriously believe we only have one or two losses at this point.

Sorry to be difficult, but our team is not 3-0--that's my point.
