Some of us are enablers, some are not. Not many players are late for conditioning tests or flights on Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, and Bill Bellichick teams.

Yeah. We really knew what happened under Johnson - hardly much internet then. Coverage was incredibly minimal compared to today. But do pretend you had the same amount of information

I know that Jimmy cut John Roper for sleeping in a meeting and Curvin Richards for fumbling too much. I'm pretty sure he would not have put up with the BS that happened this offseason. But OK, you're right, I don't know for sure.

I wonder what the new block wall is for,,, wind? privacy? complaints from the neighbors?

So they can keep certain things they are working on private is my guess. It's illegal for teams to send reps to free practices but there is nothing stopping them from looking at fan videos.

Jimmy didn't cut Irvin, Williams, and Harper for their coke party house. They basically lived at the strip club.

Both examples you listed were both marginal players and for violations of policy while with the team.

If there was a personal conduct policy that Irvin, Williams and Harper could have been suspended for back then, you better believe Jimmy would have made them tow the line... this is a quote about discipline right from Jimmy that I find spot on:

"When I was there, all the players looked to me and they understood that I was going to either cut them or keep or fine them... they had to answer to me. Now they don't really have to answer to Jason Garrett. They have to answer to Jerry Jones. I think in some ways (Jerry Jones) is an enabler."

You said that he would not have put up with it. He did put up with worse.

Yeah. Cut total scrubs. Wow. Discipline.

Wonder what he'd have done if his 88 was a couple hours late. Probably fine him and move on. Parcels famously said he could put up with a lot from a talented player.

But yeah. He should cut one of these guys. Dez or Irving or McFadden to spite his face.

I'm fairly certain we would know about if if someone was late when Jimmy was here.

He benched Irvin for the 1st half of a game for being late to the plane.

He cut John Roper for falling asleep in a meeting.

He shoved Haley's head in a toilet for being a moron.

Parcells probably would have made it well known also. He loved to pressure players through the media. He told the media that Canty and Spears were slacking. He told the media that Jay Ratliff was lucky to be on the team. There are many examples of Parcells calling players out in the media.

What? Who? I never heard that before. :)

That's because it didn't happen.

There was a time in 1992 when the Cowboys were playing the Broncos in Denver. At halftime, where the Cowboys were playing terribly against a Bronco team playing Tommy Maddox and Shawn Moore at QB, Johnson took Haley into the bathroom area, and in no certain terms, told him that he was playing like crap, and challenged him by saying that players who play like crap end up getting flushed.

Right. Media coverage is so much deeper than it was even 15 years ago. Yet we would have heard all about it.

Note also that none of the issues you mentioned had to do with things as minor as missing a non required flight

Amazing how stories get built up.

If you lived in Dallas there was extensive news coverage of the Cowboys back then.
