Funny how people claim it was TO that forced Garrett not to spread the ball around... If that is the case, why did all the WRs blame Garrett? Don't you think they would have sided against TO? Why was TO lobbying for Garrett to actually throw the ball to Roy Williams? Funny how people were talking about RW not being able to run the proper routes by the end of the year, when they were all on his jock when he came aboard and got that fade TD, as well as had that amazing one-handed grab... They kept lobbying for him to get the ball and not throw the ball to TO.. They were chatting about how he had sure hands and Garrett needs to use his size-advanatge...Ironically, the Garrett homers now talk about how Roy Williams suddenly doesn't run proper routes and he and TO were conspiring against Garrett....
Except for the fact that isn't what we Garrett Homers are claiming.

I'd like someone to answer Venger's question. The Lions don't want Garrett, but we should be heartbroken if isn't our next head coach?
It isn't about not wanting him, it's about wanting to go with a Defensive minded HC. If they weren't interested they wouldn't bother to spend money on bringing him in for an interview.

Garrett originally turned down the Lions.

Who says its the Lions who dont like their choice?

Um, if they wanted him over all the other candidates, they'd hire him. It's pretty simple.

So if their minds were made up on wanting a defensive coach, why bother interviewing Garrett at all?

It doesn't surprise me in the least that he's not getting a head coaching job anywhere.

He can say whatever he wants in an interview but when people look at the tape of what he accomplished with the talent he had, it's all over.

So for better or worse, he'll get another year in Dallas to show what he can or can't do.

Maybe you don't, but plenty of people on this board do. They are forcing the ball into triple-coverage to pacify TO is the song on this board...

What's it going to be then, eh?

No team is going to have their "mind made up" to hire in one direction unless they are very stupid. Denver was supposed to have their minds made up and look what they did, they went the complete opposite way.

It is not just who the prospective coach is going to be all of the time. It also has a little to do with who they bring along with them. Garrett could have been interesting to the Lions if he brought Capers with him. If that's not going to happen, what's to say they just didn't move on to another candidate?

Because sometimes a coach will blow you away. Denver wanted a Defensive minded coach. Did they hire one in Josh McDaniels?

Here's an idea, instead of harping on the no idea about football stuff like those kinds of ideas, focus on the ideas that really are about football. Why respond to people with no clue then act like they speak for everyone?

So why would Garrett be out of the running in Detroit simply because the Lions targeted a defensive coach?

If he 'blew them away', he'd get the job like McDaniels did, right?

And obviously Garrett didn't blow the Broncos away either.

Because I'm hearing Jim Schwartz is who they will hire, so that's why I posted the thread.

You still do the interviews to see if someone will. It's called due diligence. If you think no one should or would interview him why is he getting interviews?

It isn't like he is losing jobs to Kotites and Handleys here. These are guys all of us on this forum have speculated would get jobs.

I'm not saying no on should interview him.

I'm saying that I never thought he would get any of the jobs he's interviewing for.

His star was at its' apex last season but this year exposed him some and that star has lost a bit of its' luster.

Hopefully for the Cowboys' and all of our sakes, he redeems himself with a great year and takes over in Dallas in 2010.

Only with fans and media, not around the NFL.

Hate to say that, but it is true.

Not sure about that.

He was offered 2 head coaching jobs in 2008.

He's been offered 0 head coaching jobs in 2009.

I'd say by the fact that guys on other teams have opened their mouth to question our offense, that people in the league feel that way as well.

When we were hanging 30+ on people last season, no one was calling our offense simple.

They may still feel he's a smart guy, even if he never heads a successful NFL team, I don't think anyone will say he doesn't know football.

One thing I will say is that if Garrett had taken the Baltimore job, he would have taken the Ravens just as far as they've gone now and looked like a genius.

Harbaugh has some very qualified assistants working for him and if Garrett had them, he'd be doing just as well - if not better.

Garrett did want Cam Cameron as his OC, but would you take Capers over Rex Ryan?

In other words, they might not have.

I thought they had planned on keeping Ryan no matter who they had hired as head coach.

But I may be wrong about that.
