I have a feeling that most everyone on this board (and in the Cowboys Universe) will be very glad that Greg Ellis is on this team by season's end.

You may return to your usual business now...

Me too. I just hope Ellis finds out NLT end of TC how effective/valuable he can be in the 3-4 defense in the way Parcells intends to use him. Do admit, however, I don't exactly understand how Parcells plans use him but we will see/hear in due course (I hope).

8 sacks a year do not make a real difference maker. AND I cannot remember the last time he got one when it REALLY counted. YAWN.

He's an above average NFL player. Good to have, but too bad he doesn't fit the scheme better ....

He could have his best year ever, and I wouldn't give a flying crap.

I'm as down on Ellis as anybody, but until someone else takes his spot or we get something of real value in a trade for him, I'm glad he's still on the team!

I agree. I think once he starts playing and finds he can still be successful and contribute, he will shut his pie hole.

When asked in the PC, BP said, he can play, or he can retire. That's his options.

So he will be with the team if he chooses the wiser of the 2 options.

Indeed. I am happy that Greg is still with us. I just hope he shapes up his attitude and stops moping to the media.

A bunch of us will be very glad if he helps us win this year and will be just as glad to wave goodbye to his Greyhound now or at the end of the year if we opt to move him for a decent pick. The days of buying in to GE's nice guy act or sympathizing with his "situation" are LONG over for a lot of us. He's pretty much a number on a jersey now and a pretty darn annoying number at that.

It does if he's leading the team. He's been the best rusher we've had for several years. Granted, BeWare is coming on and we should expect more out of Spears and Canty this year, but you don't give away your best d-line rusher.

I think we could see him turn into how McGinest ended up playing for NE. I am excited about the prospect of him rushing from the LB spot.

I'm just glad Jerry is behind Bill. During the Switzer/Gailey/Campo years Ellis could have bypassed the HC and walked right into Jerry's office and gotten his way. We would still be playing the 4-3 just to showcase mediocre players like Greg Ellis and Dexter Coakley because they were "good Cowboys". Jerry would have given them all extensions by now.

considering those 8 sacks a yr are usually far and away alot more than anyone on the team (save Ware last yr) I'd say he is a difference maker

again, how many LDE's get 8-9 sacks and play good run defense EVERY YR?

I don't care what he does.

I just don't want to hear him complaining any more.

I could care less about Ellis now days! Ship him off to the CFL for all I care...

The Cowboys don't need that kind of crap/attitude, and he should know that, because it could have a bad effect on the team!

There always has to be that one damn apple...!!!

I understand why we'd be reluctant to get rid of Ellis.

But I wonder how much he'll actually give us this year. Yes, he's usually good for 8 sacks a year, but he's already said that he's not wanting to be here.

How motivated is he? Will he really give us 8 sacks this year? With the change in his attitude, is he really any better than any of our other pass rushers?

I think something needs to be done here.....what....I don't know.

The best thing for everyone is for Ellis to shut up and try his hardest. How many teams wanna pay big bucks for a guy that quits on his team?
