Since the 1970 merger, there are five QB who have ranked in the top 10 in passer rating in their rookie season. Here they are ranked by their passing yards as a percentage of their team's total offense when they were playing.

The first percentage is the raw percentage, the one in bold is adjusted for that season's league percentage, to give the 2016 equivalent.

Marino 1983 62.7% 68.8%
pass 2210
run 1313

Prescott 2016 62.1% 62.1%
pass 2835
run 1730

Griffin 2012 55.3% 57.3%
pass 3200
run 2587

Wilson 2012 54.7% 57.0%
pass 3118
run 2579

Roethlisberger 2004 53.2% 57.0%
pass 2621
run 2306

How were their respective RBs and OLs?
Wilson had Beastmode and went to the Superbowl?
Marino's team was in the superbowl the year before?
Roethlisberger had a really good team also and went far in the playoffs?
Griffin had Morris who ran over 1500 yards.

Yo, I would like a better breakdown Percy. These stats cannot be through 11 games for these QB's, otherwise Griffin and Wilson would be on pace for about 8000+ total yards (500 yards a game).

Max and pace.

No, that's every game they played in their rookie season. It's a comparison of how much each QB contributed to his offense's production.

Marino 62.7%
Prescott 62.1%
Griffin 55.3%
Wilson 54.7%
Roethlisberger 53.2%

era-adjusted
Marino 68.8%
Prescott 62.1%
Griffin 57.3%
Wilson 57.0%
Roethlisberger 57.0%

That's the name that scares me a bit that pops up in quite a few rookie lists. I hope Dak (and no I'm not saying I believe he is) isn't a flash in the pan like he was.
I for one don't see Dak being a flash in the pan like RG3 was simply Dak is much better at reading coverages than RG3 ever was and beside RG3 was a running QB in which he was better at than Dak opening himself up to injury. Imo Dak is more like a Russell Wilson type and what I mean by that is he will improve more as an NFL passer as his career goes on.

Different QB's. Griffin was a read option, scrambling, big play machine (by Shanahan's design). He actually looked like a pretty decent QB.

Then his coach got him killed, injuries piled up, he lost his confidence and reps and it kinda just spiraled from there. People like to hate on him, but one of his good friends was my roommate in college, and I never heard anything about good things about him. He did/still does a lot of charity work.

Getting a divorce and dating that European hottie was kinda ouch. I can't pretend to know the real circumstances, but he certainly wouldn't be the first young, incredibly wealthy male, to make a mistake when it comes to women. Lawd have mercy.

Griffin also had the misfortune of playing in a gimmicky offense when that style was popular with SF and Seattle a bit, then it got figured out the next year and they couldn't do anything with it.

Dak will have the consistency of a real, professional style offense. And he's a robot. I mentioned it when he got drafted that his fastest way to achieve success would be to protect the ball like he did in college. He's always been that way. Almost every part of his game is exactly what he's been doing since college, it's crazy. He actually takes less punishment in the NFL than he did in college. Hahaha. I would hate us if i was any other team.

Griffin? Would not have thought that.

Griffin really played well his rookie year. The coaches pretty much ****ed him though. I'm not sure what was up with that but I haven't ever seen coaches **** on a player that the franchise paid so much for as they did Griffin.

I agree. He did. I just didn't think his passer rating was that high. He ran a lot, and did play action.

Look at the offense RG3 played in, then look at ours.

You tell me what the difference is in regards to the QB position.

It's all good guys! Wasn't trying to blow the thread up. Nevermind I said anything. Lol

And gmoney112, I never had a problem with RG3 as a person. Didn't mean for it to come across that way.
