Press Conference: So how are you doing Jason "Fantastic"

definitely thought it was odd myself.

you've been mired in mediocrity all season, so my response would be anything other than what was said. the guy is just clueless and in over his head. with or without romo, a loss should mean his demise as head coach of this team. the whole staff too or that matter. no adjustments, no learning from mistakes, and most of all, NO PROCESS!

Regardless of the reason, I'd rather have my coach go up there with a positive mindset and present a strong front than be down in the dumps about it. No time to sulk. Lot of work to do.

I get you but one thing is "well, as you've heard we got not so good news of Romo but we'll wait and see, either way Orton is a fantastic player and this is a whole team, I know my guys can pull it out with or without Romo, they have heart etc." Or something like that instead of the I'm fantastic answer like if nothing happened, I mean common.

Yeah, I'll admit it was unexpected. But I'm not a mind reader. I think he was just being sarcastic, but it doesn't mean much to me one way or another.

This, plus by the time the news had broken, I'm sure Jason had been made aware of it long before Schefter's tweet. He'd had some time to do all the cursing he needed to do prior to his delayed PC.

I don't know if I'm Nit-Picking here because I can't stand Garrett, but this really irritated me.
When the press conference was starting, they asked him, "How are you doing Jason?" He litterally answerd "Fantastic" with a smile. I mean he had just received the worst possible news and instead of just telling the truth he comes out and says this, the season is probably over if Romo doesn't play, to me he came out as a fake. I just don't see a Jimmy, parcells, Belichik, Coughlin, Tomlin, Macarthy, Fox, Harbaugh, you name it acting like this. SMH. It will obviously have no impact on the game but I just didn't like it.
Or maybe just maybe he is fantastic because that injury probably saved his job.

Edit title: it should say doing instead of ding :)

You got it bass ackwards

You think he's not being honest? You damn right he's being honest. He knows his job just got saved

I'm fine with the way he talks to the media. Why is it so important to some of you that he tells them how he's "really" feeling? Their not not asking honest questions so they don't deserve honest answers.

Fyi...He says 'fantastic' all the time even after last week's debacle. Guy is completely fake.

(still holding out hope)

It just seem weird...............reporter says, "how you doing now that you just lost your starting QB?"

Garrett says, "I am feeling ****** fantastic"

What a total bush league response.

Because he knows his job was just saved for one more year. The dolt can't lose on Sunday night, only the fans of this team who have to rinse and repeat next year all over again.

That's because coaches and players for the most part don't get so worked up after a loss like we do.

They get paid to play a game.

We pay to watch.

Never liked his robotic press conferences, stopped watching them last year.

I found myself listening to Kelly and Trestman interviews, just something honest about them. Trestman is robotic too but his voice is relaxing.

I have literally never watched one of his press conferences in its entirety. I started listing to one and it was so robotic that I quickly became turned off. Haven't had any desire to hear anything he has had to say ever since..

There are way too many things to be irritated about when it comes to this team.

If that is one of them... I suggest you fix yourself a drink and chill out... I suggest a nice mixed drink with Captain Morgan® rum. :)

I roll with Scotch, but I am not going to run away from Vodka- it's so malleable...

As a matter of fact my last two drinks in the last half hour were: a Bloody Mary and a Bloody Maria.

Next? Beer(s). Time to slow it down... Get mellow... Get in the swing of some bad B-horror movies before Christmas...
Like Silent Night, Deadly Night and it's Sequel...

My girl is going to love this! Maybe a showing of Rare Exports...

No he feels fantastic because he most likely saved his job! ;)

This was the only excuse that could have saved his job
Fans are correct, the cowboys are cursed and the curse is the combination of Jerry and Garrett

He wants a clarification of a reversed penalty that changed a 1st and 5 into a 4th and 10 and gets crucified. He gives a positive front at a PC and gets beat up.

I swear he could save 20 children from a burning building and some fool would get on here and ***** because he did not put out the fire too.

Of course he felt fantastic.

He was in his element, holding yet another winning press conference, and owning the local scribes once again.

Some coaches devise winning game plans, others win press conferences.

That's irritated me for years. He always has at least some kind of smirk going on... He's even had a big grin for coaches after some of our worst losses.

I really think it's because he's extremely conscious of wanting people to like him, and it's as if he was taught at a young age that a big smile makes you look better... Or something. It has to be almost an automatic response for him anymore for it to happen at such inappropriate times. It's like the rookie news anchor who smiles while reading news of the plane crash... You just don't do that.

I mean how about this one after that crushing Cards loss in overtime...

"How you doing, Ken? Great game there, pal, that was fantastic!"

(thinking to himself) "Dude, I can't believe you just froze your own kicker..."

He did say receiving treatment, which tells me "In My Humble Opinion "that there is a good chance Romo can play by Sun. And I really believe Lee will be ready also.

What do you what him to say??? "Romo's done and so are we??"

What kind of a leader would he be than? Geesh, I have soured on Garrett as well, but gimme a break. The guy has to show confidence in Orton and his team, any sign of disappointment or surrender will effect his team.

What if Garrett coaches the Cowboys to victory without Romo? Should he still be fired?

Didn't you know, this is one of the examples of how he masterfully handles press conferences and proof positive he is a great coach? I know this because wiser posters on this here board bestowed their wisdom upon us.
