Pressures allowed by Terrance Steele (2021)

Correct me if I'm wrong but thats..........5% @ LT and a little less than 3% @ RT. Either way, pretty damn good. No wonder they sent Collins packing (lol)

 

He was better at RT. Yes Collins was punted for a reason. He was even better in the run game over at RT.

 

He also had a receiving TD catch

 

I think it will help him to spend camp concentrating on just RT
He’s really developed into a solid player
He’s not Tyron but then again not many are

Steele is a good solid player. Much more consistent than Collins.

 

Steele looked vulnerable at LT, stats be damned, respectfully.

 

Yeah, I'm afraid we're going to cut down on his tight end/receiver snaps now that we let Collins go. It'd be almost as bad as losing McGovern as fullback.

They should have sent Collins to LG and not cut him.

 

Collins can’t bend any more because the injuries have caught up to him. He is pretty much a right tackle only now. Plus he was not that good of a guard in 2016 when he was young.

Steele was underappreciated by fans here last year.

He literally saved the oline when Collins was suspended for 6 games.

McClay has high hopes for Steele this season. That says a lot.

 

One of the bigger stories that went largely unnoticed is when Dave Helman talked about La'el's hip being "bone on bone". I think he called it career threatening.

I'm not sure how many fans remember/know this but he spent his entire 2021 offseason glued to the hip of Zack Martin or as he put it, picking his brain. It obviously paid off, big-time.

 

Collins was/is better than steele. They hinted personal reasons being a big factor in cutting him

 

- Without double team, chip or combo help by the TEs or RBs ..? And more limited snaps boosts and helps those block stats.

- On a full scale, full schedule 17 game basis, he'll be asked more and more to block one on one ...against the better more heralded edge rushers
If it works out terrific,.. he'll be re-signed and rewarded to a multi year contract., and we'll have a suitable starting RT for years to come.

- If he disappoints, then we'll go into the NFL draft looking for a new starting RT... providing there's nuthin to invest in Josh Ball or Maletsko .

 

When they moved him to LT thats when the OL problems started. I really cant figure out why they didnt put Collins in at LG when Tyron came back. This team refuses to put their best 5 on the field at once. lol

 

I keep reading all these comments about La'el Collins being out of shape, having hips issues, and other stuff. But the Bengals are happy to have him.

I have no idea why the Cowboys cut Collins. Maybe it was just for the CAP, or they felt didn't need him with Steele on board. Or maybe they were just ticked off that he got suspended. But Collins is a good player and if they handled the situation right, they should have gotten a decent draft pick for him.

I think a lot of rumors about Collins started because of the way the Cowboys handled his injury in 2020. It took forever for them to decide he needed surgery and when he had the surgery they were very coy about the exact nature of his injury. Even now we do not know specifically what was repaired or how.

The Cowboys lost Cooper, Collins and Gregory over the winter, three good players. And all they got in return is a 5th round draft pick.

If Steele flops this year the Cowboys will get a boatload of criticism, but even if he plays well, they still deserve criticism for not getting something for Collins.
