bbgun;2924763 said:Why not? Jerry does.
silverbear;2924801 said:I don't think Robinson would be practice squad eligible, Hos... he's already played 23 games in the NFL... I have 11 candidates for the practice squad, assuming none are signed by other teams, and assuming they don't sign a player or two from other teams (which they have done in the past... the ones I think most likely will be in bold fonts:
QB Rudy Carpenter
RB Keon Lattimore
WR Jesse Holley
WR Manuel Johnson
OL Travis Bright
OL Ryan Gibbons
OL Greg Isdaner
DE Marcus Dixon
DB Mike Mickens
DB DeAngelo Smith
DB DeAngelo Willingham
And out of that group, my 8th slot would go to Ryan Gibbons...
I didn't say he was a waste. Just don't think he or Procter were worth that tender. I don't call NFL players wastes. The only player I am really shocked who made the team is McQuistan. Thought he was slow footed and terrible this off season. I think he's gone if Brewster can recover.MichaelWinicki;2924902 said:I don't think it's a good idea to trade a main cog from the nickel defense a week before the season starts. Carpenter is soft against the run, but he's done well in coverage.
Zach is kaput. Let's not go there.
Proctor is a place-card holder for when Brewster comes off of the PUP list.
Wow! Haven't even played a game this season and Austin is a waste? Ouch! You must be hangin around burmashave too much there Hos! LOL!

I agree with the last part. It isn't a slap at Owens either, in reality it's a slap at Jerry. He was paid top money to be a ticket draw and attention grabber and Jerry got what he paid for.MichaelWinicki;2924917 said:Being that the club lacked depth at both WR and OL, they were sorta strong-armed into the tenders... Part of the curse of not drafting well enough in those areas.
It wasn't the best use of money, but it wasn't the worst either-- not like the extension given to Owens.

I firmly believe Owens was cut because he would have been a bigger story than the stadium.
The spotlight is always shared in Dallas since 2003.Juke99;2924958 said:Interesting take.
Jerry cut Owens as a marketing move..and ya know, it could very well be.

Jerry and Tuna.
Jerry and Owens.
Jerry and the Stadium.
It's just a theory, but one I am subscribing to right now. There are always interesting subplots surrounding the spotlight too. Romo's love life and golf talent being one that I think is light enough for Jerry to really enjoy. The current bed buddy of Romo's took over as host of one of Jerry's shows on the Cowboys. She replaced Brad Sham. Coincidence, or media savvy move?
Jerry's no idiot when it comes to marketing.

Alexander;2924975 said:He might be smart when it comes to marketing, but his obsession with it to the point it even drives his football decisions is damaging to the organization.
I have to agree. Jerry is obviously hopeful that it will be easier to get people to sign in Dallas and that corporate money will push that goal. The Great Number 8;2925020 said:Depends on your view of damaging the organization. Jerry has the most valuable sports property in North America. I agree with you the football operations take a back seat to marketing, but I think the Forbes list is more his idea of a Super Bowl than the Lombardi trophy.

Where I fault Jerry is with regards to the Head Coach. He's made some poor decisions and has stuck with them for too long. People are correct in saying he would have fired GMs if he wasn't the GM. I think that's a two edged sword, but many do not.
Jerry can sell the Cowboys as a product better than anyone else. What I would love is if he could get back to putting a winner on the field. There's literally no reason he can't, but he hasn't.
