Pretty sure BP was referring to Carpenter

During his press conference earlier this week he said some stuff like "Some of these young players have to show me something. It's like I think they are better than they think they are."

Could easily be applied to Carp. BP is p****ng me off. Why draft the kid and not suit him up? I mean, you've had all summer to work with the kid and he's not even good enough to play special teams? Give me a break!

Look, I WANTED us to draft Carp because he looked good from the times I saw him play. But you draft a kid and then give his position to an older, slower guy? BP sure has a unique way of doing things.

BP: "Yeah, Jerry...let's draft him, pay him big money and then keep him inactive on gameday. "

Madness.

His comment about Watkins was obviously directed at Carpenter.

Parcells doesn't care where they were drafted. he has gone over this time and time again. They play when they show him that they can.

I hope you don't mean playing Ellis over him. Anyone who isn't happy with Ellis is vexing.

I am vexing? How about Ellis playing LB for the first time while Burnett and Carp sit vexes me?

I honestly think that when you are not a starting LB you better contribute on Special Teams. It's on Carpenter to in practice out perform Hoyte or Fowler or whomever if he wants to suit up.

Because....he's shown more even in his inexperience. How is that vexing? You play who produces.

Yeah. Giving the player who is performing better is sure a "unique" way of doing things. Far better to give the job to someone who didn't earn it.

*Yawn*

We are in the business of winning now. Greg Ellis gives us the best chance to win right now. If you honestly can't see that right now, Ellis is better than Burnett or Carp, then there's no helping you.

I was talking about his comment re: Watkins. He said that some of his other rookies should take a page from his book and just play hard and take the opportunities when they're open.

From last week's Sport's Illustrated: Players- First Person- Julius Jones:

Like the time he said to me, "I'm going to send you home. I don't care how high we picked you."

He didn't send me home, but I got the message.

Is this a serious question? Do you think drafting a kid and signing him to a contract automatically makes him better than the other guys on the team?

When Carpenter is the best at his position, he'll be starting...simple.

I think Marcus Spears is one of the people he is talking about. Parcells has alluded to how dominant he think Spears could be, literally unstoppable. He is playing well right now, but not dominant.

There are better players ahead of him, obviously.

I don't think many of us have adjusted to Dallas being a good team, and not needing the rookies to be significant contributors right away. Carpenter needs to find a niche, because if he plays better, he'll get on the field, but I don't think that's a bizarre concept for an NFL team.

Best player plays, is not exactly mind-bending stuff.

Then it's pretty freakin sad that an undrafted rook is better than our first rounder.

Perhaps, but it still leaves us all wondering: Was this all necessary?
