Prisco's Top 100 players: Ranking all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks
There is nothing better than arguing quarterbacks. At CBSSports.com, we've had our fair share of quarterback debates over dinners, and, of course, much of it has centered on Seattle's Russell Wilson. Some will say I am a Wilson hater, which leads to the debate. Not true. I think he's good. Others I work with think he's great. Time will tell.

But that's what makes talking quarterbacks so much fun. It leads to thought and debate and arguing and angry fans. That's what I expect my rankings here of the league's starting quarterbacks will do: provoke debate. Aaron Rodgers stays in the top spot, followed by Tom Brady. Where's Wilson? Take a look. You might be surprised how high he is on my rankings.

1. Aaron Rodgers QB / Green Bay Packers
He had a down year in 2015, but he is still the best in football. I expect a big bounce-back season in 2016.

2. Tom Brady QB / New England Patriots
Does he get better with age? Will he ever slow down? He just keeps on rolling -- and winning.

3. Ben Roethlisberger QB / Pittsburgh Steelers
He was banged up last season and his numbers were down. But he will be back in a big way in 2016.

4. Cam Newton QB / Carolina Panthers
He was the league MVP for a reason. He led the Panthers to the Super Bowl and a big reason was because he improved as a pocket passer.

5. Carson Palmer QB / Arizona Cardinals
He came back from 2014 ACL surgery to have a big year for the Cardinals, taking them to the NFC Championship Game. He just didn't get it done that day against Carolina, and will take that into 2016.

6. Drew Brees QB / New Orleans Saints
He's older and not the same guy he used to be, but he's close. He led the NFL in passing yards, continuing to roll up big numbers.

7. Andrew Luck QB / Indianapolis Colts
He had a tough season in 2015, with injuries limiting him. He also didn't play well when he was on the field, but there were reasons. He will bounce back.

8. Russell Wilson QB / Seattle Seahawks
He improved greatly as a pocket passer as the team leaned on him more in 2015. That's something they need to do even more moving forward. He's ready for it.

9. Philip Rivers QB / San Diego Chargers
It's a shame his offense had so many injuries last season. Even behind a beat-up line, he still was able to put up some nice numbers and compete. That's the Rivers way.

10. Eli Manning QB / New York Giants
In his second season in Ben McAdoo's offense, he seemed much more comfortable. With McAdoo now the head coach, it should stay that way for the two-time Super Bowl winner.

11. Tony Romo QB / Dallas Cowboys
He suffered two broken collarbones that limited him in 2015. He's said to be back healthy again, which is huge for the Cowboys. Romo can still get it done.

I've always felt Romo >> Brees

Palmer's probably more talented, but what a choke job by Palmer in both playoff games. Palmer is Aikman without the clutch gene.

I've said it for over 10 years: Prisco's an idiot

Besides the dumb "two broken collarbones" line I can't get too mad, Romo is not an easy QB to rank right now since 2015 was such a waste. Tony will be back.

Personally I would go with Tom and Big Ben #1 and 2, with a big jumble afterwards. It's weird not having to account for Peyton...

Really? I've always thought Romo > Ben

What an idiot.

Palmer, Eli, Rivers, Luck, Reotherlisberger, and Brees (now) are not better than Tony Romo. Neither is Cam Newton, who is about to come crashing back to earth this year.

Big Ben really doesn't get credit around here

Dude has developed over the years and is without question a top tier qb

The guys off the field stuff (Rather true or not) has tarnished the outlook on him.

If you're looking at him as strictly a QB, and taking any personal feelings about him out (Rather be a hatred for a Steeler player or him as a person over his alleged acts off the field) the guy is a damn good QB.

If Cam does (And for the record I'm right there with you that I believe he will) the media, and fans, are going to make every excuse in the book for him for why he's not as good as he was last year.

I don't really get to worked up anymore by these writers who put Romo outside the top 10 or whatever anymore. The fact is that the vast majority of them don't have a clue what makes a QB great in the first place so their opinions really should be taken with a grain of salt and thought of as irrelevant.

Precisely...not sure why that's so hard to do for most people..

I don't see cam crashing back down to earth...I could be wrong..but I see no reason at all why he will get a pass..everyone jumps on him every chance they get

It's not a knock on anyone but I just feel like the vast majority of fans can not separate personal feelings about a player from the player on the field.

If they don't like the team they play for, or the person in question they just can not accept the fact that the player is still a damn good player.

When I was a kid/teenager I went to school with people who just absolutely refused to acknowledge that LT was an all-time great player at LB. His cocaine use and such was just stuff people, for whatever reason, refused to separate from the player and would act like he was over-rated and garbage on the field.

That taught me pretty early on that people often can not give credit where credit is due.

That could just be my observation of him being off. I feel like they just won't bag on him the way they would other QBs if they don't live up to the hype from one year to the next. And I don't watch a lot of Sportscenter or anything anymore so I could very well have missed it if they've ridden Cam pretty hard about stuff right now but really the only time I saw them give him any sort of real crap was over his attitude after the loss at the Superbowl.

Which to each their own on that situation. On one hand I sympathize with Cam there because I myself hate losing. I can not stand it in the least. Losing absolutely pisses me off, even if it's losing at something as meaningless as a game of Call of Duty.

On the other hand I was raised, and taught, that while it pisses me off to lose that you still show proper sportsmanship and you act like a man after that loss. So I can see where the media, and fans, were getting on him about that.
