With one week remaining, there are now only nine Cowboys leading their respective positions in the NFC voting for the Pro Bowl. We also have five guys in second, five guys in third, three guys in fourth and one guy in fifth. That's 19 guys in the top three and a total of 23 in the top five.

There were relatively few changes in the order of the top five at each position, although Chris Canty has passed Marcus Spears at defensive end.

The biggest change is that Keith Davis was passed for the special-teams position by a massive surge in votes for Brendon Ayanbadejo -- a relatively anonymous player who somehow got more votes in the past week than all but five players in the NFL (Favre, Brady, Manning, Romo and Moss) and almost twice as many votes in the past week as he had gotten in the entire first SIX WEEKS of voting.

Here's a quick rundown of each position --

QB -- Romo is second, still well behind Favre. Eli Manning is third with less than half as many votes as Romo.

RB -- Barber remains second behind Adrian Peterson, with Westbrook, Bush and Portis also in the top five.

FB -- Hoyte remained second, behind Tony Richardson and barely ahead of Korey Hall and Mike Sellers.

WR -- Owens still is well ahead of everyone else, with Plaxico Burress in second.

TE -- Witten has a huge lead over Jeremy Shockey, with Chris Cooley third and two Packers in fourth and fifth.

OT -- Adams has a comfortable lead over Chad Clifton, with Colombo in third place, less than 4,000 votes behind Clifton. The fourth-place guy, Mark Tauscher, is more than 55,000 votes behind Colombo.

OG -- Davis leads Steve Hutchinson by a comfortable margin. Former Cowboy Larry Allen is fourth behind the Packers' Daryn Colledge.

C -- Gurode has pulled away from the rest, and the Packers' Scott Wells has passed the Bears' Olin Kreutz for second.

P -- McBriar has almost twice as many votes as any other punter in either conference. Jeff Feagles is second in the NFC.

K -- Folk still not only leads the NFC by a huge margin, he also leads anyone in the AFC by a huge margin. Mason Crosby is second in the NFC.

DT -- Ratliff remains second, barely ahead of Shaun Rogers. Tommie Harris has a comfortable lead.

DE -- Canty jumped into fourth, with Spears fifth. Strahan dropped out of the top five. The top three are Osi Umenyiora, Aaron Kampman and Julius Peppers.

OLB -- Ware still holds a small lead over A.J. Hawk, with both ahead of anyone in the AFC. Ellis is third in the NFC, ahead of Lance Briggs and Julian Peterson.

ILB -- Bradie James remains third, well behind Urlacher and Nick Barnett. Akin Ayodele still is fourth, with London Fletcher fifth.

CB -- Newman remains third, behind both Green Bay Packers (Woodson is first, Harris second). Ronde Barber is fourth, with DeAngelo Hall fifth.

SS -- Roy still has more than twice as many votes as anyone else. Atari Bigby is second and LaRon Landry is third.

FS -- Sean Taylor got a lot of votes to increase his lead over Brian Dawkins. Hamlin is less than 10,000 votes out of first. Nick Collins is third, and there's a gigantic dropoff to No. 4, Gibril Wilson.

ST -- Brendon Ayanbadejo now leads Ketih Davis by more than 25,000 votes. Last week, Ayanbadejo was third, more than 50,000 votes behind Davis.

KR -- Tyson Thompson is fourth, with less than 10 percent as many votes as the leader, Devin Hester.

The voting ends December 11.

Some notes about the voting in the past week --

-- Sean Taylor got a lot of votes after his death, but he still was only 10th overall in the NFC in the past week. Those getting more votes were Favre, Romo, Ayanbadejo, Owens, Adrian Peterson, Hester, Witten, Westbrook and Marion Barber. Taylor finished just ahead of Ware and Flozell Adams.

-- Newman isn't gaining any ground on Charles Woodson and Al Harris. They both got more votes than Newman did in the past week, and Ronde Barber was just a little behind Newman. We had four offensive linemen (Adams, Davis, Gurode and Colombo, in that order) who got more votes than Newman did during the week.

-- If McBriar's votes just from the past week were counted, he'd still almost rank among the top five NFC punters. The 49ers' Andy Lee is fifth at 38,907. McBriar got 31,180 just in the past week.

-- Jay Ratliff got more votes than any other NFC defensive tackle in the past week (almost 500 more than Tommie Harris). But he's still almost 20,000 behind Harris overall.

-- Canty and Spears both got more votes in the past week than Julius Peppers did.

So basically every starter other than Kosier, Henry, and Crayton is in the top 5 in his position.

Unreal.

I vote everyday for Newman but I'm starting to feel I'm wasting my time.

OK everyone

Colombo is 4,000 votes behind Clifton and out of second place. If we work hard to vote for him this week we can push him into second place.

Maybe Brendon was a computer science major at Stanford. I'll go check.

Packers fans vote.

A lot.

There isn't anything else to do in the frozen tundra. They get like 2 channels on TV and reading "See Dick run" presents a reading challenge.

thanks for the update as always, Adam.. i love these..

so here's who i think will actually make it, once the players and coaches get to vote as well:

Romo
TO
Witten
Adams
Gurode
Davis
Roy
Newman
Ware
Ellis
McBriar
Folk

i mean, i could see a few others making it, especially looking at these votes.. but I gotta figure that the players and coaches will spread the wealth a bit more than the fans.. and I can't see much more than 12 players making it.. that's a ton..

I doubt Ellis and Folk will make it, and I wouldn't be surprised if Newman got robbed again.

Agree about Ellis and Newman, but do think Folk (an easy name to remember) makes it. Many saw the Buffalo game and would remember our kicker twice having to make the 52 yarder. He has also made other more routine kicks since then including a few Thursday against the Packers.

How is that possible if Folk leads all kickers in votes, including AFC kickers?

Newman is actually getting a lot of press now and more league-wide acclaim than he used to.. seems like everyone is calling him a shut-down corner nowadays and just as I think players and coaches will spread the love and not include some Cowboys that are leading vote getters, I think the same will happen to Harris and Woodson.. don't see both of them making it.. and if so, I still think Newman gets that third spot..

Ellis, I dunno.. I just think that with those lofty sack numbers and with him being a veteran with a good reputation among players, he might sneak in..

I can see your point on Folk, with him being a rookie.. but people still remember him because of that Bills game..
