I think Murray can be a fine back, but I think he is better in a power offense and with a fullback. He is not a single cut-and-go back that fits the zone run in my opinion.

I pulled this picture off of facebook.Murray bounced this outside for a 4-yard gain. I personally would like to see more of Dunbar minus his fumbling. He has the ability to break off huge runs. On a play like this with a hole that big.. he would have had a massive run. Instead we have Murray who just loves to make contact.. get us 4 yards.

He got 3 yards on that play. I remember see'ing it live and I stood up when I saw the hole he had to run through and then he only got 3.

This is another prime example from last year vs. the Giants. Notice the first contact he makes.. he could have just run outside and come very close to picking up the first down.. instead he rams his head right into a defender. Luckily he hit the guy so hard he knocked him over. But then he makes some moves and breaks it outside and has Dez blocking for him and could have just kept running straight along the sidelines but instead runs to the left right into 3 defenders. Even if he couldn't out run the safety/CB there.. he could have still gotten another 20 yards + along the sidelines before they caught him. I'm pretty confident he could have gotten a TD there though.

And yet Michaels called it a "sensational run."

Yep I remember this play vividly. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with him. Doesn't really matter though, JG basically laughed off all the questions about Murray in yesterday's PC. He either has no clue or he was trying to protect his player. I don't care about Dunbar's fumble, he needs to play more.

How can you not care about ball control in a running back? I love what Dunbar gives us, but if he can't hold onto the ball, it doesn't matter how good he his, you can't use him.

I think the issue with Murray is that he's focussing too much now on holding onto the ball, and he's not running as aggressively as a result. I keep thinking about how he ran in the CIN preseason game after he got back in the game. That's what I want to see in the starting lineup right now. At that point, he was angry and determined and a very, very good RB. Right now, I think he's thinking too much about taking care of the ball.

Murray seemingly doesn't trust his speed or ability to make defenders miss, so he simply seeks to overpower them. Even in the most obvious situations with plenty of daylight, he will seek out the defender. Look, i love Murray as a player, but these type of RBs wont win you many games leaving yards on the field. At this point Murray is an average RB. The good RBs get the yards that are blocked and then some. The great ones get their yards regardless.

Again, i like the player and him personally. But the longer he plays throughout a game, he hurts the offense leaving yards on the field. Ideally he's a great backup RB.

We care but it happens with young RB's.

The passing game is being easily contained right now. JG's system will not be successful without a running game. Everything is too predictable.

So if Dunbar can potentially give us that spark than we need to get him on the field. If he fumbles again then take him out but we need him.
