He had to leave us...

Could've been our head coach for years to come...

I'm still not convinced that he is going to be a good head coach.

But I will say this much, if Jerrah decides he wants Payton when BP leaves, he will get him.

He passed a huge test tonight. This was a big time pressure game, and he soundly outcoached Atlanta.

I think his future is pretty darn promising.

For real, game of his frickin career. He was all over the field and brought the wood too. Man if that defense can play like that all season, they'll be in the playoffs. I think a lot of it was on Atlanta though, those guys just don't get open.

I don't disagree at all with the fact that he has looked good so far.

I guess his days with the Giants are still in the back of my mind, when he basically became Fassel's scapegoat for just about everything.

Fassel conveniently took over the play calling when the offensive line got healthy that season.

Payton went through 3 years of Parcells boot camp and graduated to HC. Parcells even turned over play calling duties to him, which he rarely does. I doubt Fassel would have managed that.

Success rate is pretty high for Parcells disciples, and Sean's off to a nice start. I might become a closet Saints fan.

three former Cowboys recorded sacks in the game. Fujita and Shanle for the Saints. and Kevin Mathis for the Falcons.

congratulations to Coach Payton, the Saints, and the citizens of New Orleans.

I didnt care much for him as an OC. I thought he was to predictable.. But he looks to have what it takes to be a HC though.

He sounds eerily like BP in his press responses too. And he looks to be getting that chin too. LOL

no coach gets props from me unless their team throws a 30yard slant ;)
Since you brought that up, and I know you and Rack are going back and forth, but if you start out in a short slant, and the QB never hits you, you keep going and wind up 30 yards down field, is it still considered a slant? :)
