Pros: Romo's calling all the plays
Wears defenses out
Easier to score quickly

Cons: We have all these great mismatches it limits personnel groups since same group is on field
May wear our OL out - more opportunities for Romo to get killed
Gives more possessions to the opposing offense and more opportunities for them to score

It's better than getting momentum off of a play and then just killing it by letting the playclock run all the way down and topping it off with a false start because the OL was crouched down for so long.

The third con there is by far my biggest concern. One of the reasons the defense has struggled is because the offense just does not consistently control the ball. I know it might sound dumb, but the offense scores so quickly at times the defense gets no chance to rest. Combine that with the fact that they have a bunch of three and outs and turnovers, and you've put a defense in a really tough spot.

Look at our first half scoring last year.

We have to do something to get a better jump on teams.

Plus it would be more favorable to play with a lead most of the time now that we switched to a cover 2.

Since we're going back to this bend but don't break style I would like to make teams throw down field as much as possible instead of dinking and dunking their way down the field.

Our roster is made up of players that just play better in a street ball environment and I think it gives us a boost.

Agree with all of that. I'm of the crowd that has wanted us to go no huddle once in a while, regardless of the clock, for a couple of years now.

It wears out your defense too fast. Use it occassionally - more than we do now - but very smartly, because if it doesn't work, you'll get beat by 40 points when your defenses falls apart.

It takes all 40.9999 seconds for our offense to even get a snap off, what makes anyone think they can cut back on penalties by going in a hurry.

romo will not be calling all the plays. they do have headsets in his helment. the OC will call in the plays to him just as they do in most no huddles other teams run.
running a no huddle does'nt mean running plays all that much faster. just means they can't change players on the "D"
if you sustain drives you can take just as much time off the clock as any other offense. it's all about sustaining drives. no matter what offense you run if you don't get first downs you can't control the clock
the idea is to creat mismatches with personnel not really about moving the plays along faster. you can but not really the entire point of the system

There is more than one kind of "no huddle"

There is one which we use when we are down late in the game or half and are trying to score before the clock runs out.

There is another "no huddle" WE don't use. Manning uses it when he wants to be the one who determines which players (on defense) his offensive players will line up against. He uses it to get favorable match ups. Not against the clock. Their team skips a huddle and goes straight to the los. Then Manning takes his sweet time calling out the play, player responsibilities and snap count. By the time the ball is snapped they have used up almost all their time. Often times the ball is snapped with as few as two or three seconds on the clock.

Agree with the Pro and Cons there

One of the Pros is that is prevents or reduces situational substitutions on the defense.

It's easier for the offense (the team that knows what the play or playset is going to be) to substitute than the D.

I could see them running more no huddle (and not just in catch-up mode) but it still will be a mix and match thing. It's more effective that way anyway.

I think no huddle is a good change of pace when things are getting stagnate I think mixing things up can help. Downside of no huddle is you run the risk of not giving the defense any time to rest before getting back out on the field.

If the opposing team is coming off a 10 play drive then you go to hurry up and you are 3 and out in less than a min the defense is going to be in serious trouble.

The offense needs to be in top physical shape too. There will be a lot less breaks to catch their breath. The players will need to pay extra attention on getting back to the line too.
