Pughley was my favorite of the UDFA OLinemen. He was really powerful in game footage and I thought maybe quick enough to play RT. He definitely looked like a good Guard prospect.

They can retain his rights if they want to go that route.

IRVING, Texas – One of the rookie free agents who seemingly had a shot to stick on the roster is likely out for the season.

Rookie guard
Jarrod Pughsley suffered a torn biceps injury and has already been placed on waived/injured. The undrafted free agent from Akron had plenty of size at 6-4, 308 and was one of the players to watch out for to make the roster.

Instead, the Cowboys have already replaced his spot on the roster with Darius Morris, who also participated in the three-day minicamp on a tryout basis.

However, Morris (6-3, 310) is not a true rookie, entering the NFL in 2011. A standout at Temple, he spent time with the Texans in 2011 but did not play in a game.

Only on our team are so many UDFA's likely to compete for a spot...

They don't have to keep any UDFA OLinemen. They have 8 OL from last season on the roster. Some teams carry as few as 8 during the season. I could see them going short on OL to go long at DL and/or WR.

Agreed.

If I had to make an early guess, I'm thinking last season's 5 starters plus Parnell, Weems and Martin being the 8.

If Coleman & Bishop show something during training camp, the Cowboys probably will not risk moving them to the practice squad. And they need the experience so McClain won't be going anywhere and if Okoye is healthy, he'll make the team too. That being said I think the Cowboys go heavy on the DL.

Holy smoke -- one minute the hype-pushers are raving about how explosive and impressive the guy plays and the next minute, whammo, he's history! Just when you're beginning to take the bait, up pops something like this. Sigh -- next man up, I guess.

Other teams have injuries just like the Cowboys. Some worse. We're not snake bitten, but just have a lack of depth.

Yes all teams have injuries and our depth needs to be better but when you have injuries take place with the starter and backups well not a lot of teams are going 3 deep in terms of quality backups.

Injury stats disagree with you.

Stats in my view are wrong. No team is 2 to 3 deep at all position where a team is taking injuries plays a big part. Losing a LB you expect to put a backup in and continue, now lose 2 LB or 3 LB and it takes it's toll. Dallas had DL coming and going all year we expected Ware, Hatcher, Ratliff and Spencer to be the starters out of the 4 2 started and 1 played injured and ineffective for much of the year. You are not going to lose 3 guys on the DL and expect they will be as good. Add to that losing key players in the LB core and a starting CB.
