Q Williams vs Dean at LB

I'll get started by saying, I believe Williams is head and shoulders better than Dean but that's me. Here's a little comparison of the 2.

Williams 5'11 230 lbs

last 5 years--- 550+ tackles, 12.5 sacks, 9 ff, 1 int and has missed 5 games during this time

Dean 5'11 231 lbs

Last 4 years--- 220 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 3 ff and 1 int. Has missed 21 games during this time.

I'm hoping we sign Williams.
Both solid players, but one does know the system and one the DC knows exactly how he will fit into that system. I’m all for who ever Parker thinks is the best fit

It is possible that both Dean and Williams sign with teams not named the Cowboys. It’s not as if players are straining at the leash to come play for Dallas.
Actually Dallas rarely loses a player they want. Plus Dean knows Parker very well and brothers on ghe other. If Dallas wants either they will be cowboys

They will both sign with the team that pays them the most. The notion either of them, or any professional football player, will take less just to play for a coach they know or play on the same team as their brother is typical NFL fan make-believe. That they would give up so much as one dollar just to be on the Cowboys is wishful thinking. Need look no further than Dallas’ QB1.

I’d take Lloyd over either.

6’3, 235 lb
Last 4 years: 435 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 1 f.f., 5 f.rec., 26 p.d., 9 int., 1 TD.

I’m not saying they will take a pay cut to come here. But there’s no doubt more players want to be in Dallas than any other team. Obviously they aren’t taking millions less to do it

I never predicted he would. I gave an opinion on whom I’d personally prefer.
20m a season for an off the ball LB who whose 5th year option wasn't picked up because of inconsistent play is how you become the Browns and Raiders!

Q Williams is a Will LB with declining skills over the past two seasons.
His coverage grade took a precipitous drop into the low 30s this past season after the retirement of CJ Moseley.

Dean is a very effective Mike at lining up the defense when healthy.

Who would play the MIKE LB? Exciter has pointed out the Quincy has been a Will LB same as Overshown. Dean has been a MIKE LB with Philly.

If Parker believes Dean is the best chance of getting his defensive scheme implemented, then he will go with Dean. It is whoever he believes is the smartest player to captain his defense.
You better believe he is stressing out on finding his field leader to line up the defence.

The question is does that player currently resides on Dallas' roster?

Parker knows Dean, so I’m sure that counts for a lot here.

I hope we sign both
I like this kind of thinking!!

What if in this season these stats don't matter and Dean outplays him???

Williams market is projected around $9.2 million with Dean around $8.

Dean knows Parker’s scheme, is a green dot guy and a leader. The only way Williams comes to play with his brother is at a discount. He’s going to sign with someone like Tennessee who will throw the bag at him
Easy DEAN 3 years 24 million, 16 million guaranteed

This is the route I would go as well. It doesn't necessarily have to be Lloyd either but I would spend a little more for a stronger player who really solidifies a position for you.

Both Dean and Williams would be upgrades over what we have, but Williams is likely in decline and Dean is unlikely to give you 1000 snaps in a season. I wont be mad if they bring either of these guys in, but I'm hoping for a stronger headliner in FA for the Cowboys.

They both are small the DTs have to keep them clean. And in Today's NFL guys that size do not last long.

Dean is one of the five best blitzing linebackers in football, a terror who ran through running backs such as David Montgomery, Javonte Williams and Kimani Vidal in pass protection this season. But he can also get lost in coverage and ran a 20.2% missed tackle rate on run plays last season, per Next Gen Stats. He looked physically fine coming back from a torn patellar tendon, and that helps Dean's chances of landing a significant deal in free agency.

I'm still on the Chenal wagon, I get the hype over Dean but that missed tackle rate is not encouraging.

The more i've been watching Williams and reading on him, i am wanting to sign him to a 3 year deal re-uniting with his brother. Dean will know the Defense better but your going to have him for half a season before he's out again.

I don't know a lot about either but from what I remember most of the missed games for Dean were early on when they drafted him already injured so I'd like to see the last two seasons so 2024 and 2020 bucks to do comparison because that would probably be closer to the truth on whose better at present.
