QB Moore Expected To Miss Significant Time After Suffering Broken Leg

OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys’ backup quarterback position is now very much unclear once again after Kellen Moore suffered a left broken fibula injury late in Tuesday’s practice.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed the injury as he walked off the practice fields, although he didn’t have a specific timetable for Moore’s recovery, although it’s possible he could miss the entire season.

Moore was rolled up on by a defender during team drills and had to be carted off the field with his leg in an air cast.

While the team is certainly hoping for a healthy Tony Romo in 2016, he played in just four games last season, but finished only two. Behind him now are a couple of unproven youngsters in rookie fourth-round pick Dak Prescott and first-year pro Jameill Showers, who spent all of last year on the practice squad...

Could miss the year? It didn't look that bad. He didn't appear to be in a ton of pain. It's the non weight bearing bone. I think this prediction is way overboard.

They won't save a spot on the roster for an injured backup QB and he won't get designated for return IR. The injury itself may not prevent him from playing this season, but the situation as a whole probably will.

Poor guy. Has a good opportunity in front of him and this happens. Hopefully it's overblown... Wonder who is on the radar

No way they go into the season with either a 4th rd rookie or an undrafted FA as backup qb.

Significant time? I guess you could call the rest of his NFL career that because that's what he's going to miss.

I can't be so sure about that.

The typical distal fibular fracture is relatively minor, a non-weight bearing bone that can be treated in a walking boot rather than a cast. The knee doesn't need to be immobilized, and surgery is rarely needed. There should not be significant muscle atrophy or joint stiffness to rehab through.

He literally could be back in action in 6 weeks, definitely by 8 weeks. Without knowing what other injuries may transpire, it might be a bit early to write Moore off.

Don't they usually say that high ankle sprains are worse than breaks? And do we know if this one requires surgery to set or could be handled with a closed reduction maybe?

Oops. Missed this. Good stuff, thanks.

yeah feel bad for him, and I wanted to see him play this pre season.

Something is wrong for this type injury to occur in practice.
