Based on the Romo vs. JC thread I wanted to see how they compared over their first 8 starts. To give it some more perspective I decided to include 8 other current QB's and how they performed. Amazingly Romo outperformed everyone except Ben Rothelisberger. JC on the other hand was at the bottom end of the rankings.

edit: I tried to imbed the picture into the post but I can only get it to link.

The thing that keeps amazing me about Romo is the yardage. About 50% more yards than Big Ben.

And this doesn't even include last night's game.

I don't want to call you out on your numbers but how does Romo have a lower completion percent, a higher avg per attempt and yet a lower avg per completion than Roethlisberger?

To me, it stands to reason that if he had a higher avg per attempt and a lower completion percent, then he would have a higher avg per completion.

Not saying you are wrong, I just don't see how the math adds up.

Yeah but Commanders' fans will continue with following excuses:

- JC had to adjust to 4 different offensive coordinators/Scheme
- JC was third string so he hardly got any snaps
- JC only sat on the pine for two years
- JC had better December than Romo
- JC has more upside than Romo
- WRs drops is cause low completion rate (as if other teams' receivers don't drop passes)

I'm sure there are more....coming

It doesn't. One of the numbers is incorrect. If the completion percentage and yardage numbers are right, then Roethlisberger's YPC should be 12.4, not 16.0.

What amazes me is how often Romo comes through on 3rd and long when teams know he is going to drop back and pass

Both of you are right (good catch) the YPC should have been 12.4 not 16. Everything else is correct.. I was rushing to finish this before taking my son to football practice and looks like I copied the formula incorectly.:

I wanted to include 3rd down conversion % as well because I think that is a stat that Romo would blow most of the competition out of the water.

JC/Romo, there is no comparison

That's about it.

JC is a more talented Quincy Carter-- and that's really about it.
