Quality interior DT rushers just litter the playoff rosters

TENN: Jurrell Casey, one of the best.
KC: Chris Jones, one of the best
SF: DeForest Buckner, one of the best
GB: Kenny Clark, one of the best

And the rest of their rosters are just full of quality DT's/3-4 DE's. It's just so hard to stop opposing QB's w/o interior pocket push. Our JAG's are not getting the job done. Fix it, Jerry.

And Billy B routinely has an all pro/future HOFer at DT/NT. Ted Washington and Vince Woolfork to name a couple.

It's not just about an interior pass rush from your DT. Successful 3-4s have beastly NTs who can hold the C/G double team and force runs to the DEs. McCarthy has had BJ Rahi and Gilbert Brown who were both effective run stoppers. Will be exciting to see the changes

I agree. Remember when we had Russell Maryland. Leon lett, chad henning and Tony Castilla. Even Tampa bay had not only Warren sapp but a first round pick in booger McFarland. So lame how all the sudden dts don’t matter for our team

And even more than the 1990s quality and depth at DT, think of the history of this franchise. Dallas has had Bob Lilly (arguably the great DT in NFL history) and Randy White (who makes anyone and everyone's list of top 10 DTs of all time, if not top 5 or 6).

A storied franchise with two of the greatest interior linemen of all time has for years neglected the position. It's been difficult to stomach, quite frankly. :(

Lots of folks have Kinlaw mocked to DAL.

Would be a great add if he falls that far.
Def need some additional weight placed on DL moving forward.

David Irving was a true difference maker, especially as a pass rusher. Its a shame the way things turned out with him.

I'm sold that resources need to be allocated to build a real defensive line and the Cowboys have a golden opportunity to do that this off season. The Packers did it last off season and it completely changed their team (even though their schedule was charmin soft - much like the Patriots), but the addition of Z'Darius Smith, Preston Smith, and Adrian Amos made their defense very credible.

Collins is a better passrusher than any of the guys in the OP except Jones.

Top 10 DT Pass Rush Win Rate
1. Aaron Donald, Rams, 25%
2. Grady Jarrett, Falcons, 22%
3. Chris Jones, Chiefs, 19%
4. Maliek Collins, Cowboys, 16%
5. Quinton Jefferson, Seahawks, 16%
6. Calais Campbell, Jaguars, 15%
7. Ed Oliver, Bills, 15%
8. Denico Autry, Colts, 14%
9. Matt Ioannidis, Commanders, 13%
10. Vita Vea, Buccaneers, 13%
#4 is the exact reason stats don’t matter. He has almost no impact on games, end of story

This conversation is about DT's. Coach hate is is in the Overtime Zone.
Right? It's so very strange how some posters come into every thread and just spew their agenda, no matter the topic. Really really weird.

Couldn't agree with you more. I think the cowboys do value the position but overvalue their ability to evaluate talent. They likely think they can find the next Jay Ratliff without investing high picks or big money. Hopefully McCarthy and his staff will change that

This is what Marinelli philosophy brought to the Cowboys. Undersized but twitchy low round draft picks. Totally glad we got rid of Marinelli and Garrett.

Talent and scheme matter. Notice at end of year our DT's did better when they stopped rushing upfield so much and just blocked the interior and played run.
