I'm more fond of the Kosier/Colombo type finds than I am of these big name splashes.

We have plenty of our own guys I'd like to see signed before we start signing big mouthed, self centered players that are going to disrupt locker room chemistry. A Chad Johnson signing would put us to the edge of the salary cap after getting Romo, Newman (hopefully), Ware, Crayton(and yes, right now I'd like to see Crayton re-signed), Barber, and Hamlin squared away.

Jerry Jones has JUST started to get smart with the salary cap. No need to blow it on a guy like Johnson. In fact, we are better off extending Owens deal than we are signing a guy like Johnson.

I just don't like the big name free agent signings as much as I used to. No need to turn into the Foreskins. Draft well and dip into the second tier of FA for depth. It's been working well. No need to change at this point.

A classic example is Henry vs. Clements. Nate's contract is $80 million! Henry's? Not even close to that number. Yet who has more INTs in about half the playing time? You gonna argue that Clements is worth THAT much more than Henry? Not even CLOSE. No one player in the upper echelon of his position (with the exception of QB) is worth that much more than his peers. The difference in production doesn't match the price tag. For Clements to be worth what he's being paid right now he'd have to have 10-12 INTs TO THIS POINT to justify that kind of money and SB. No thanks. I'll take my second level Henry and abundance of cap space and just move on.

Ditto for Chad.

T.J. get's more TD's because Chad takes the double teams though, that would also happen here. whoever get's the single coverage makes the plays, then there is Witten.

I do think Chad and T.O. could play together, unlike him and Moss they don't have a problem with each other, they are both great players and I imagine they are both looking for a ring...both of them would have a great chance to get that with the Cowboys.

We will never know because this is not going to happen. I think it looks great on paper but no I don't think this is a match that would be good for the team. TO is happy in Dallas and as been told by the staff that he is the 1st option in the passing game I don’t see Chad as a guy who would come in as a #2 and I clearly do not see Owens being happy as a #2 WR

I would rather have Houshmandzadeh over Chad. The guy goes about his business without expecting to be the center point of the passing game. Frankly I expect my #1 WR to be the focal point just as TO expects it or Irvin when he was here. I just don't think you could take 2 guys like this and have the chemistry.

Dude are drinkin this early? my GOD..

Chad and TO would present HUGE problems for defenses, especialy if you factor in Witten. The running game would be VERY open. But sadly we would lead the league in fines and excesive celabrations penatlies.

well at least that means they are getting touchdowns =)

I don't drink, I'm just not stupid. TJ is a great #2 WR who accepts his role. Chad is a #1 and would expect to be that in Dallas or any where he plays. TO also expect to be the #1 guy and would not be happy in my opinion playing #2 to chad and I highly doubt chad would want to be #2 to Owens. If you can understand the ego's of #1 WR then you would have an understanding of the reality of the game.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I enjoy Chad Johnson's personality. He's among my favorite non-Cowboys players.

As a Cowboys fan, I'd enjoy having him on the team.

I wouldn't break the bank (or draft) on him, though, and I think Fitzgerald has more to offer as a player.

I was jk about that bro..But really it would be good to get chad here but that will not happen..I can't see chad and T.o. on the same team for some reason.. I have a friend that lives in Indy and hes telling me since he gots some inside track over there that, since harrison sould be done in indy , that the colts are gonna make a strong push at getting chad in the offseason.. that i can see since the colts dont have many strong character players, like we do on here..

BTW i still rather have Chad over TJ anyday of the week.. Chad makes TJ look good since they are both on the same eam.. if not nobody would even knwo who Tj was..

I agree about Chad's personality, I prefer players with an attitude. T.O., Chad, Randy etc...I loved the T.O. signing and would also love the a Chad signing. there are several things that could get in the way of it happening but how many people ever thought T.O. would be a Cowboy? anything can happen.

He's a little older but still in his prime, and completely miserable in Cinci.
I'm going to disagree with that. He may not be happy that they are losing, but he isn't completley miserable.

TJ is a damn fine WR in his own right and just like Reggie Wyane is still producing even without Harrison in the lineup so would TJ.

Don't get me wrong TJ is a solid WR , but hes not in chad Johnsons league.

If im correct chad was the best WR last year in the NFL..

I seen both players play personally since they went to some college named

Santa monica city college here in LA..But alot of what reggie is doing in Indy

is also inpart thanks to harrison , im pretty sure the Vet thought him alot

same goes for TJ..

TJ is a #2 WR that is why I liked him over Chad at least in terms of if I could add 1 or the other to the Cowboys roster I would take TJ because he will accept the role as a #2 to Owens #1. I don't think Chad would. In the meantime TJ leads the NFL in receptions and plays a big part in the Cinn offense not all of that is because Chad is great it is because TJ is a quality WR in his own right.

Would rather have Steve Smith over Chad Johnson. He's a year younger and did you see the way Romo and Smith connected for that TD in the Pro Bowl?

Sure got me thinking.

The Panthers were 8-8 last year and don't look much better this year. I think Smith would be more than happy to wear the star and play in our new stadium too.

down year? the only wr ahead of him before he got huirt was moss. Your absolutely right why take a proven player when we can take a 50/50 shot at a wr in the draft. You people make no sence. As for TO and Chad getting along they are very good friends and that is why I can see him comming here. I can see him pulling what TO pulled when SF wanted to trade him to the Ravens but he held out for Philly and philly ended up picking him up for a player they where going to cut anyway in james thrash. The same thrash that tore them up last week before leaving the game with an injury.
Point being that TO would love to have Chad opposite him because teams would have to leave one of them with one on one almost every play and if they are both dubled then witten will eat up some yards. Everyone will end up with more yards more catches more touchdowns and most importantly a ring.

Steve Smith is a truly dynamic player.

An Owens - Smith - Witten combination truly would be amazing.

It'd probably take a Herschel Walker-like trade to get Smith though, wouldn't it?

I also think Stanback is going to show up soon at WR. Perhaps against the skins, but almost certainly against the Jets. My reasoning here is that the Cowboys will attempt get him ready to seriously contribute against Green Bay. It would be good for the Cowboys to see if they really have something in Stanback this season. If Terry Glenn comes back then my scenario falls apart somewhat but I'd be OK with that and Stanback could be worked in certain spots. The other problem would be if he (Stanback) isn't progressing in practice, but that would give the Cowboys an indication of what to do in the offseason.
