and why i think it's overrated......

the question is can u take a big hit and still run a 4.3 compared to a bigger person taking that same hit and runnin a 4.6.....

Say Ginn runs a 4.3 but after getting hit all game do u think he still runs a 4.3 throughout the game or any other speedter..... compares to a bigger player that run a 4.5 taking that sane hit.........

i can run a 4.3 but after 2 sprints i might run a 4.7 compared to Hstile runnung a 4.6 and after 3 sprints he is still running a 4.6........

to me 40 times are overrated because i wonder can a speedter take a pounding and still run 4.3 throughout the game.........

If anything I think getting hit hard would make a small guy wanna run even faster lol.

But this toughness issue definitely is something to take into account. I don't really know but I think it's possible that in a game situation a player adrenaline would allow them to maintain their speed even after taking some punishment. I would think that it would be more of a mental thing where the player becomes afraid of taking more punishment. But barring injury or a mental block I think that a 4.3 player could maintain his 4.3 speed after taking some big hits.

Interesting thought.

The 40 time is only over rated in most people's eyes because it seems to be the only measurable they want to rely on.

When used in context, as Gil Brandt puts it, it's an important reference but only as a part of the whole.
