Question about watching football abroad

From early September to mid December, I am going to be studying abroad in the Netherlands. I was wondering if anyone knew how difficult it would be to watch the games while I'm there. I guess I could try to find them online? Or maybe I'll be able to find them at a bar? I'm assuming they usually aren't on television...

Any suggestions? I know we have a few European zoners...what do you guys usually do?

Help me out!

Watching football with a broad?

Oh, you mean with a foreign broad! :D

Let's hope so!

Ha thanks though. I guess I'll have to catch them online. It would be nice to watch them with a few people though. It's gonna be a weird season for me.

Yeah, my son-in-law is getting ready to head back over to Iraq for a year so he will miss the entire season. Not too big a loss for him though since he's a Jets fan.

Yahoo and the NFL provide a HD streaming service for non US residents. The bad news it is isnt free. The good news is it works very well. You even get an archive of all played games. I used it last season and thought it was worth the $120 or so that I paid. In the past I have used free/illegal streams and its just a frustrating exercise. Quality is up and down and sometimes you dont get the game at all.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm sure I'll try a few different things.

Links - Nope..not going on a Fulbright. I'm just doing an exchange program through my school. I'll be at the University of Groningen.

Aside from the fact that you'll be watching the MNF games at 2-3am local time and the day games at night over there, it shouldn't be too difficult with all the backwood streams available on the internet now. Once you get used to the early morning time frame all is well. When I was over in Germany I taped the games a lot. I was there from 92-97. I caught both back to back Buffalo Bills beatdowns in an NCO club full of fans from all teams at 3am both years. Never was I more proud to be a Cowboys fan than I was at that time. Those were the days...

I missed this one. Best wishes to your Son-in-law. I wish him a safe and prosperous journey abroad. It's a jungle out there but he'll be in good hands as part of the world's greatest military force. He'll be back home safe in no time.

Time really does fly when your recreational options are limited. Patrol, sleep, eat, patrol, sleep, eat. Home. ;)

You will be just up the road from me...14 or so hours :laugh1: ...bad joke:(

We use to have a channel called NASN (north american sports network) but sadly ESPN bought it out and it has become "ESPN America"... I am under the assumption that there will still be NFL games on from "FOX, CBS, NBC, ESPN and also the NFL Network...

If you are still unable to watch any NFL games there are streams available over the net with the links usually posted on this forum....

If you are still having problems shoot me a pm and we will work on finging a solution.

Yahoo game pass is your best bet if you want to cowboys game every week, there's usually people streaming the games for free but those streams can be very unstable in Europe and get shut down quite frequently

If you have a way to do it, I'd recommend that you hook up a Slingbox to a DVR that is located in Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Then you'll be able to watch live or record and watch later anything you want (not just football).

I've not used the Yahoo Game Pass. I understand that it is a very good option. A possible limitation is that it doesn't carry postseason games.

I think they added post season games as well this year but those are usually all on TV most places in Europe anyways

I appreciate it guys. It's very reassuring to know there are quite a few viable options.
