Hello fellow NFL Fans!

Don't be alarmed, for I come in peace! Obviously the Commanders have been making a splash in the early stages of Free Agency, which people are taking many different ways. I notice that many of you seem to think that the Commanders are in someway circumventing the Salary Cap, or blatantly ignoring it. Many Commanders fans feel the same way. The solution most Commanders fans have come to, however, is that as much as many opposing team's fans hate to admit it, the staff probably does know what they're doing. We're but feeble fans when it comes to offseason transactions.

That isn't what I came here to discuss, though. My question is about (yes, you guessed it) the Terrell Owens situation. When you guys cut Keyshawn Johnson it looked like the Terrell Owens deal was going to fall into place. Now, things don't look like they're going so smoothly. Hypothetically, if you are not able to come to terms with Owens, and he ends up in Denver or elsewhere, what are your thoughts on your potential offensive production for the upcoming season.

You'll have Bledsoe throwing to Glenn as your number one reciever (correct me if I'm wrong), and Julius Jones in the backfield? Your strongest lineman in Larry Allen is rumored to be cut. It looks to me like if the Owens deal falls through, then the Cowboys will have moved nowhere but backwards thus far in Free Agency. I came here not to troll, but rather to see if my views coincided with that of Cowboys fans.

If Owens is signed I can't wait to see how he fares against the Commanders bolstered secondary. Cowboys fan or not, I don't think any of us are Terrell Owens fans (except maybe for the way he tore apart the Eagles). I doubt any of us would mind seeing him take one in the chest from Sean Taylor. :)

Thanks for your responses!

Sean Taylor's style of play isn't really that of a "Big hitter". Although he does have good size so he can lay out the occasion hit on someone.

I think Sean Dawkins (it is Sean, right?) would probably do the job a bit better.

That said, I don't want TO with the cowboys. If he is, I'll be rooting for the cowboys, but also for the opposing team's safeties to clean TO's clock.

As much as I hate to say it, I hope Roy cleans his clock before the season ever starts. I dont ever want to see TO in the uniform.

It's so early.

Maybe we want to give the illusion of not tampering with TO.

Maybe we had zero interest in a guy who's blown up 2 teams alread.

Key is still a FA and has said he will give the team the right to match.

Maybe we're just purging age and building a team the only way it's ever been proven to work.

Well, that's nice of you to come here and voice your concerns, but, you should have not done that!

Everyone in the NFL knows that you are the next SuperBowl winners...

The Cowboys suck, the Eagles suck, and the Giants suck....the Commanders are the creme of the crop! Your team is so far ahead of everyone else in the NFL that it's useless to even discuss these matters!

Enjoy your SuperBowl this coming season!

So they'll offer him a contract then, and Key will give the Cowboys a chance to match.

1: TO >>> Anyone in Washington's secondary, including Toast and Drive By

2: There is a good chance Keyshawn resigns here regardless

That fine and all, but Keyshawn already said no matter what kind of deal he finds the Cowboys will have a chance to match

Well Kevin, if you still around, since you nice & polite, welcome. Fully realize when you post back on Skins forum you'll rip us but we expect that. In any case, you probably realize that much divergence of opinion on signing TO on this board. Many want him but some of us think, although he a great WR, he's a cancer & will probably end up doing to us what he did in SF & Philly (admit I enjoyed watching Philly situation). Hopefully Jones (but more like Parcells) don't bring him in. If we weren't losing so many of our vets, I'd like to see some of our leaders go to management and say no to TO--like they did in Miami or was it Atlanta.

So if TO doesn't come on board, we can hope Key comes back which allows us buy time to develop WR we pick up in on first day. If Key doesn't resign, we will look somewhere else (maybe Molds - not my choice though) or we can always slit our throats. I'm sure Commanders wins getting a chuckle over our apparent problems. But don't laugh too loud -- there could always be a bogeyman around who strikes w/o warning. Ha.

Roy Williams and Brian Dawkins are both bigger hitters than Drive By.

I think most Skin fans are under the delusion that the 35-7 thrashing was a portent of things to come. They think that team was somehow the best we could put out there.

Not true.....

We had lost Flo, Crayton, and Julius Jones for long periods of time. Flo was obviously out for the year. Julius Jones did play in the second game vs the Skins, but he was just feeling his way back at that point. Crayton's development took a step back. We started a rookie sixth round pick at RT, and Rivera was hobbled by a back injury all season.

Remember, before Flo was injured, we were 4-2 and were considered by many to be the favorites of the entire NFC.

If we can keep those players healthy, it'd be a HUGE shot in the arm.

So, I guess you can look at our offseason as adding:
a Pro-Bowl LT
an OG that's younger and considered by many to be a very solid addition
a third WR
a potential franchise back

Now, we do still need a WR....I am worried about that. If we don't sign TO (which I'm not crazy about), then we're sunk at WR. I'm not so sure we'll lose Key though....he's already said that he'd give the Cowboys a chance to match any offer he gets. As a matter of fact, Jerry told him to get the best offer he could, then come see him.

Rivera is a wildcard here. If he fully recovers from his injury, then I think that'll provide a major boost to our OL. That just leaves RT as a hole.

Now, after writing all that, I must admit that it appears we've taken a step back. But I don't think it's as bad as you're hoping. If our players come back healthy, and we keep Key (or maybe even TO) then we may be greatly improved.

Now defensively, I think we'll be lots better. I know we haven't done anything yet, but all our young guys will be another year in the 3-4. Canty, Spears, and Ware will all be second year guys. Ware especially was a terror the last few games.

We'll get Henry back (don't forget how much time he missed), Singleton (probably), Ayodele will be stout in the middle (finally a replacement for Dat....who was injured most of the year).

We had so many injuries last year....injuries that players missed significant time for.....that getting them back will be like having a boatload of FA.

Plus, we have the draft to look forward to....
