Question: NO JOKES just honest answers !!! Just looking for various opinions. If the Cowboys lose to the Eagles Saturday night say 28-14 and your the Owner of the Boyz would you:

1) Take the Option on Wade Phillips Contract for 2010
2) Sign Wade to a new 3 year Deal
3) Go after Bill Cowher as HC

Pick up the 1-year option for 2010 and then sign him to a second option year.

Based on what happens in 2010, will see what happens with Phillips.

I cut Wade loose. He has a terrific regular season record. He also has a horrific
post season record. Every coach here is measured in SB's why shouldn't Phillips be?

Much would depend on how we played at this stage I would pick up the option for 2010 if they win I would look at a 3 year deal.

Dave in NY since Shanahn was the possible link to the Boyz and is now a Commander I can't think of any candidate but Cowher to take over the Boyz but you say no Cowher and wht not? or who do you like?

Option 3 makes no sense because Bill Cowher would not want to be anywhere he did not have a very high degree of control. If people believe in fairies and unicorns, I suppose it is alright to believe that Bill Cowher would be a realistic option to be the head coach of this franchise.

And to answer the question, if we played a competitive football game Saturday, I would simply go with the extra option.

It’s all about winning playoff games, and we`ve had the talent to do just that in the last 3 years, if we don`t do it, I`d make the change.

Saying that I am 100% sure we will WIN and go deep into the playoffs.

Option 1. 28 - 14 looks like one if those scores where the cowboys turn it over a lot. If that happens it's not on Wade. If it is a legitimate 28 points (no turnovers/special team points). Then I consider releasing him.

so you get 3 years and if we do not win a SB in 3 years the coach should be fired? Man we could go through a lot coaches.

Exactly.

Also keep in mind if you go for the 3 year deal, or possibly even the 1 year option, you may be losing Garrett in the processs.

The offense had a lot of success this year, and Jason has really been good down the stretch. He may be seeing job offers again this offseason, and will not pass them up again.

The last part was sarcasm more or less. Sorry.

Phillips does have the best roster we have had in quite some time. Players have matured. He needs to win in the post season with this team. If he can't
he was simply never meant to.

The only problem with another three year contract is the commitment. Is another playoff appearance and out worth that? No. But there has been progress from last year and that would be enough to pick up the option. The only problem there is you have an older coach with what amounts to lame duck status. It is a tough situation to be in. I would rather him just make it easy. Win it all and retire.

Pick up the option for 2010. I like what Wade brings to the table as far as the defense goes.

Now that brings up another question. What about Garret?

None of those.

Wade is gone.

Garrett becomes the head coach and Herring or Grantham takes over the defense.
