OK guys, here's a small paragraph from a fantasy football article:
___________________________________________________

Dolphins TE Anthony Fasano
Finally out of Jason Witten’s shadow in Dallas, Fasano was able to show off his talents Sunday. In his first game for the Dolphins, he finished with eight catches for 84 yards and a touchdown, clearly establishing himself as the main target for QB Chad Pennington. Given Pennington’s weak arm, Fasano should see a lot of short-to-intermediate throws, which could translate into lots of yards and scores.

Now we have seen a glimpse of potential from Martellus Bennett, so I'm not ragging on him. I don't understand the need to upgrade the TE position when we could of used more O-line depth or maybe another WR to add more upside to that position. Yeah I know, weak WR class. Still could of use this pick more wisely.

That Miami trade, Fergy and Fasano for a 4th is a huge question mark. Why do we feel the need to let the Tuna rape us. I do realize that we did save some important cap space by this trade but still it seems like this trade was totally one sided.

If Fasano was such a slow learning prospect (dumb), why is it that he seems to be picking things up just fine in South Dallas? Also watched part of the Maimi game and saw Fergy blowup a running play in the backfield. :bang2:

I agree that we should have kept Fergy.

Fasano was just not going to see much time here as the 3rd stringer and was probably not a good enough blocker to keep in that role, anways. Good to see that Miami has put him to good use as a guy to work the short routes for Pennington's shot arm.

it was akin and fasano.

not to beat a dead horse but i dont understand trading fasano or fergy. I am not a coach though so there was something that they didnt like about them.

They keep changing their reasoning on fasano.

I liked Fasano. I thought he was a pretty decent player, while here. It's done now. No good to dwell on it. Hopefully, Bennett becomes a great TE for us and we have no regrets

I think Fasano will be a RFA at the end of this season which we'd prob have lost him with nothing to show for it, this way we atleast got something for him. again I'm thinking it's the last year of his contract...

Fasano does not have nearly the upside Bennet has....I saw enough of Fasano to know he could never be a dual threat TE at the level we need it done here. So if Witten ever went down Fasano could not replace him. Could Bennet? We don't know...but we do know he has the skill set to step in for Witten.

I liked Fasano while he was here, but I think that Bennett has an upside that Fasano can't even compete with. He's got the chance to be a difference maker, and I don't think Fasano did. As for Fergy, he missed all of last year and is old. There also wasn't a need for him, what with the emergance of Ratliff and Tank. Might as well drop the dead weight.

Kinda seems pointless at this point, those (including myself) that voiced displeasure in a lopsided trade of a 2nd round TE for a 4th rounder only to turn around and draft another TE with a 2nd round pick seemed bizarre.

My bad, mental fart.

What was Fergy, a late rounder?

Still that's 2 trades where Big Bill has made Jerry his ...cough, cough... girlfriend.

I think one of the sacks on Pennington was a direct result of a missed Fasano block. One of the reasons he is no longer here. On that note, I think it was a dumb trade. He is certainly an upgrade over Curtis.

And we got Hudson Houck... Did you see what Hudson Houck did? Have you seen the difference between Sparano and Houck? We potentially have what may go down as one of the great OLs in NFL history. Getting HH because Parcells fired him is way more of a fleecing then losing Fasano, who was known as a person that couldn't really block.

And we got Zach Thomas... Did you see what Zach Thomas did?

Fasano was not the blocker we needed at the second TE position. Maybe Bennett can be. But I gotta believe that Zach Thomas was part of the deal with Parcell's. No trade because of salary considerations, but cut him with certainty that he would sign with Dallas.

I just don't see anyone letting Zack walk. Sure he is old and dinged up a bit, but he is still better than 90% of the LB's in the league.

I love these results you mentioned, still our end of it was trades and the ones you mentioned were out there on the street for us to pick up. Still way one sided.

Also you forgot about Jerry letting Ireland get that BIG promotion.;)

Think of it as trading Akin A. Firstdown and Fasano for Tashard Choice. If either Barber or Felix Jones gets hurt, Choice becomes a pretty important player for us (he looked good again in limited action against the Browns). Fasano was looking to be 3rd on the depth chart at 2nd round money, Firstdown was likely to sit behind James, Thomas and Burnett, and maybe Carpenter on a pretty decent FA contract. So basically they made cap room and get Choice in the fourth, who might turn out to be a better player than either of the two the left.

As far as Ferguson goes, he was going to be behind Jay and Tank as well. He unfortunately lost his job to an injury, but he probably wasn't well suited to the the 1 gap Wade 3-4 at this stage in his career anyway. Better to go down to Miami and occupy the strong side Guard and Center so the Dolphin linebackers can make tacks after 5 yard gains.

The Cowboys got Tashard Choice and Orlando Scandrick with that 4th round pick in a trade down. So it was a trade of Ayodele/Fasano for Choice/Scandrick; Great trade imo.

Okay, which team was beating down the door to trade to get Fasano? None of them. No team was willing to offer any 2nd or 3rd round picks to Dallas to obtain Fasano. Dallas got what they could. Heck, I am surprised they got much for him at all. He was just a guy as the #2 tight end. Tony Curtis is just a guy, so why not get something in return for Fasano while you can and move forward. Then Dallas ended up in position to get Bennett who has some potential.

Ferguson is solid, but older and was higher on the pay scale. Had he not missed the majority of last season with an injury he would probably still be in Dallas. Since Dallas saw that they could function without him he became expendable. They traded him and got something in return instead of just releasing him, which mostly likely they would have done.

Actually, Jerry got SOME return on two players who no longer fit the team's plans... as others have noted, Fasano was brought in to be the blocking TE (he was never gonna replace Witten as the receiving TE), and he just sucked as a blocker... Miami needed a receiving TE, so he's a better fit there... except, possibly, if you ask Ricky Williams...

Ferguson was decent for the Boys, but again was not a real good fit for Wade's slightly different version of the 3-4... had the Cowboys not traded those two for peanuts, they might have been cut, then Jerry would have gotten nothing...

Nope, I don't regret either deal... and I'm happy that Fasano is somewhere that he can actually contribute... we're still quite solid at TE...

Fasano can catch, but he wasn't a great run blocker.

That's the crux of the issue.

Fasano is a poor blocker.

Witten had to stay in and block far too often last year because of Fasano's poor blocking.

That's why he was moved to Miami for a song.
