Questions about our OL

1. Is it reasonable or even feasible to switch Flo and Colombo?
Flo is getting long in the tooth, often injured, and is deaf in his right ear. He is a false start machine and gets owned by speed rushers off the edge. Since most pass rushers line up over the left tackle, I figure Flo would be best served to move to RT. He would be able to hear the cadence better, especially on the road. He would see less of the top pass rushers, and thus he would most likely be able to dominate the lesser ones. Also, with Flo and Davis on the same side, we would have a mountain to run behind. Colombo is younger, healthier, and more nimble than Flo. He also plays with a nasty streak you like to see in a LT. IMO, I believe this is a realistic switch....Does anyone else have thoughts on this subject?

2. We need a starting LG. Kosier and Holland seem to be the two most likely options right now. Would you stick with those two, or try and draft our next LG?
Personally, I would give these two a chance to fight for the starting job, and let the other be the primary backup. I would still draft another G to replace Procter on the roster. Procter sucks and should be sent packing.

3. What OL do you want most in the draft?
I want C Eric Woods. I think he is going to be a very good, if not great NFL player for many years. He can play all 3 interior line positions. He would also push Gurode to get better with some of his deficiencies or risk losing his job.

I like option 3. We also need to draft Flo's replacement now. Personally I don't see Colombo playing LT but you almost sparked something there. It could be a very temporary solution if God forbid Flo went down.

This is a joke right?

come on...that last statement is WAY overboard...when he is healthy nobody gets by him

Colombo does not have the foot quickness to play LT...it'd be a total disaster...he gets run by far more than any of our other OL's, and thats at RT...he'd be completely overmatched at LT

Both play pretty good when they are out there...its just too bad both got hurt last yr

I doubt Proctor is here come the end of TC

I'd would like to see us get a C/G type in the draft.....Antoine Caldwell would be a nice add IMO...but no rookie is going to come in and push Gurode, he's one of the best C's in the game...the only people that dont think so are the fickle people in CZ

not fickle....just want him to focus more on his snaps, both timing and accuracy.

I'd say he did improve greatly on it from 07 to 08, I dont recall any errant snaps last yr when he had a few in 2007. So he did get better at that.

He's a very good player.

while i tend to act a fool in here and use tons of sarcasm quite a bit, this time I was very serious. I have seen other teams move older LTs to RT. I cant recall any at the moment, but I know it has been done. If I knew for sure that it was assinine, I would have never asked. I asked these questions to see if those who have more football knowledge than myself could give me an intelligent and quality answer to each one.

It's not that moving Adams to RT is a bad idea, its that we have nobody who can play LT if we do, unless Free really comes on. Colombo resigning the deal he did insures Adams isnt moving though. Colombo definitely cant play LT for anything other than an emergency situation for a a very short term period. You could never leave him alone at LT.

against JAGs Colombo would do all right at LT. Against any of the real good ones he would get owned. We would HAVE to have someone helping him on each play. I love him as a player and he is a very solid RT but LT is a TOTALLY different world.

I'm talking about the snaps over Romo's head. I recall a few from 2007, but dont remember any last yr.

not over his head....but to his right, to his left, short, high, early (before Romo was ready), late (getting delay of games)

I think Flozell's decline has been so fast, it's scarry. Actually the last couple of years, but we can't see it because Romo escapes all the horrible blocking for the most part.

I think Kosier is an okay Guard, but he seems more like a Center to me, he's too weak.

Columbo does have a nasty attitude, but when he goes up against speed, he's useless.

Flozell is just plain awful. I would consider cutting him out right and depend on anything else we have until the rookies are ready.
