I have a few questions for you guys based on some tidbits from the exploitation of our defense article.
"We knew that they leave the middle open a little bit,'' said Furrey, who caught 11 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. "There are some catches to be made in there. That's their normal defense to leave four deep all the way across.
#1 - According to Furrey our normal defense is to leave four deep. That means both corners and both safeties dropping back and playing deep- obviously leaving the middle open - which makes complete sense. However - my question is - if this indeed is our "normal" defense (which i do believe) how is it possible that we were (not as much anymore) giving up so many deep/big plays? Isnt playing 4 deep more of a prevent type defense designed to stop these plays?
#2 - If indeed 4 deep is our normal defense can we at ALL blame any of the players for what is going on defensively? I mean they are doing what they are asked to do which is leave the middle open.....So is it fair to jump all over our lbs? (Not saying we shouldn't be - I am REALLY just asking) What are the linebackers responsibilities in a 4 deep coverage?
#3 - How do we fix the fact that we have been exploited? And Can it be solved by saturday?
