I just re-watched the game after being out of town and watching it is a sports bar live.

Positives
Ogletree looked good in his limited touches. He caught the one out cleanly and someone in an earlier thread mentioned that he reminded them of Terry Glenn. I thought that the night of the game. Same body type and good speed and catches the ball clean (just sticks to his hands). I know the sample size is small, but the dude looks like he can contribute. There was a play I think in the 2nd quarter that Austin caught about a 15 yarder for a 1st. If Romo would have seen Ogletree about 10 yards deeper and 8 yards to Austin’s left he may have scored. At the very least a very long gain. I can have a look and tell you the exact time of the game that it happened if you want to look back an d can’t find it.

Free played well. Good pass protector and decent against the run against the Saints.

Jenkins is the real deal. Other than the drop in the endzone by Henderson he was lights out. Should have had a pick 6 a few plays before his 2nd quarter INT also, but dropped it. They never showed a replay during the game but watching it at home it was about waist level and he was coming at a full sprint. It looked like he would have taken it the 35 yards to go up 21-3. He has been lights out this year.

Gurode played very well. Both against the run and the pass he had one of his better games.

We had good pressure all night. Spencer played his best game as a Cowboy in my opinion and would have had another sack if it wasn’t negated by a DB getting a hands to the face penalty. Hopefully he has turned the corner. Has had good pressure all season but hasn’t had the sack numbers. Ware was a beast. Butler looked like your typical rookie drafted in the 4th round. Some decent and some bad play from him.

Scandrick made some plays here and there and wasn’t awful. He was on Colston a lot it seemed.

Romo played a very good game. Did everything that was needed and asked of him. Did have one poor throw that should have been picked off but otherwise very good game.

Obviously Austin had a great game as well. I like how he is great after the catch and he covers up the ball with two hands most of the time when he is in traffic. The little things make a difference.

Negatives (mostly obvious)

Folk really shanked that last kick. The other kicks he had on extra points and the other field goal were right down the middle and didn’t have that weird shank/knuckleball movement that a few of his pre-game and the missed kick had. It is like he is hitting it on the part of his foot too close to his leg or heel. His plant foot is too close to the ball or he is swinging his foot out wider than normal. Maybe his range of motion is different after his hip surgery this off-season. I don’t know what it is and I am sure people with more knowledge than me have tried to figure it out.

Carpenter is pretty bad. The angles he takes to the ball carrier are pathetic sometimes. My 5 year old plays football and sometimes he looks like them when he is pursuing the ball carrier and trying to make a tackle. There were at least three times where he did this and totally took himself out of the play. He is also has to be one of the weakest LB at tackling that I have ever seen. Just not very physical at all. Skinny Alan Ball is a more sure tackler than him. He is the Deion Sanders of tackling and that isn’t good if you are a 250 pound LB. All of this has been said it just blows my mind that he hasn’t improved on it and he was a 1st rounder. Can anyone tell me if he was like this in college and if so why was he though of so highly? On the positive side he did have good coverage a few times at least.
