in the season ending stats.

Colin Cowturd, I hope you're paying attention. Earlier this year you said on air that you could name 12-15 other QBs better than Romo. But you're just a lost cause anyway.

Passing

QB Rating

Romo 97.6 (NFC #4, NFL #8)

Passes Attempted

Romo 550 (NFC #2, NFL #5)

Passes Completed

Romo 347 (NFC #4, NFL #7)

% Completed

Romo 63.1 (NFC #6, NFL #12)

Passing Yards

Romo 4,483 (NFC #1, NFL #3) (corrected!)

Yards per Attempt

Romo 8.15 (NFC #3, NFL #6)

Long

Romo 80 (NFC #4, NFL Tie for #9 (with Peyton))

Passing TDs

Romo 26 (NFC Tie for #6 (Warner) NFL Tie for #10 (Warner, Roethlisburger))

Interceptions

Romo only had 9. 26 other QBs in NFL had more

Agreed. He's a colossal disappointment. ;)

I wouldn't think it would too hard to name 15 QBs better than Romo. I mean, it's even a bit early to be putting above White or Meredith here in Dallas and there's 31 other clubs out there...

Taking where he ranked in what I would coin the most significant passing statistics listed -- QB rating, YPA, yards, touchdowns, interceptions and completion percentage -- it looks like Romo grades out to having about the seventh-to-eighth-best passing season.

(I came up with this rough, spur-of-the-moment calculation by assigning points that mirror his ranking per category -- such as 10 points for for passing TDs since he ranked 10th in the league, etc. -- and totaled them up, and then divided by the number of categories assigned (6)).

Using that same formula to compare him to other NFC QBs, it looks like he averages out to having the third-to-fourth best passing season in the conference (3.8 to be exact).

Romo's passing yards were 4483, not 4398.

Great post.

Whoops, you are exactly right. I had inadventently grabbed Tom Brady's yardage...sorry 'bout that!

And...thanks Hos.

Edit: It occurs to me you may actually have been referring to current QBs...if so, I'd love to see your list of 15 QBs in the game today that are better than Romo.

Just for discussion and debating, not flaming. Promise.

Suddenly, this thread makes much more sense and Colin Cowherd much less...:
