What I do remember seeing while Owens was here was huge windows left open for Witten to catch the ball 15-20 yards down field because Owens would drag at least 2 defenders with him way over the top.

That doesn't happen anymore.

25 to 30 yards sometimes.

I think it has more to do with the change of philosophy on offense than it does the loss of Owens.

Longer developing routes = Tony holding the ball longer = greater chance for turnovers.

Witten runs a lot of short to intermediate routes so Tony could just dump it off to him if needed.

Let's not act like Austin isn't getting the attention Owens was.

Teams know who he is. And he's STILL producing.

Austin is going to the Pro Bowl. He deserves it. His numbers are CRAZY good for the number of actual starts he's had.

I was just arguing with my dad about this last week during the San Diego game. Austin is a beast and putting up awesome numbers. Makes me wonder why people aren't talking more about him. I know DeSean Jackson has been great, but not any better then Miles.

So much for the "T.O. made Romo" argument.

The future is bright my friends.
This is so true. Of course, the haters will find some other excuse to discredit Romo now.

As big as I have become on Austin, we still have to factor that he doesnt see the type of coverage that Owens does.

unlike TO, Austin can actually fake to draw the defender, then blow right by him and be open.....or he is able to break tackles and take it for long gains.

When I watch Austin, it is like I am watching the Niners of the late 80s and early 90s.....Rice and Taylor. I am not saying Austin is either of them, but he does resemble them with his routes, speed, and YAC. Seriously, Austin would light up the NFL even moreso if he were back in that Niners offense.

I am not sure about that at all. In Owens last season he sometimes saw single coverage-----AND teams have been doubling Miles.

Did you see the coverage on Miles TD? Corner + safety over the top biased his way.

Miles might be getting *MORE* attention than Owens was getting last season.

Boy just imagine if they played on the same team at the same time. Who would you double then?

Owens had to leave in order for Austin to emerge for us IMO. If Owens and Roy where still the starters, Austin would either still be buried on our roster or lighting it up for the Jets.

Like Jon said above. Miles wouldn't be starting if The Player was still here.

I should clarify. I was speaking of the Owens we saw in '07. The only guy who got more coverage than him that year was Moss. And I think we also need to factor consistency. And like I said, I wasnt implying Austin isnt getting double coverage. He's just not getting it at the rate T.O. did.

InmanRoshi, I dont need to see game tape on Randy Moss and Reggie Wayne to know that Moss gets far more respect and coverage than Wayne does, despite the fact that Wayne has had a better individual season.

Im not saying Austin doesnt get double coverage, cause he does. He just doesnt get it like T.O. did when he was in his prime.

Oh, I think Austin has been quite consistent. He has 100-plus yards in five of 10 starts. He has 70 yards in at least one other game. And he had the game-winning catch in one of the games he produced the fewest yards. He has scored TDs in like six of his 10 starts. He had two games there in the middle where he was non existent, but otherwise has been dynamite.

Funny you mention that. A few minutes ago, Keyshawn went to break by teasing something to the regard of, "We'll show you why DeSean Jackson is the best receiver in his division."

Keyshawn's still butthurt over getting dumped in favor of Terrell Owens back in '06.

Miles Austin > DeSean Jackson. Not even close. Miles does it all, Jackson just runs go routes.

If he had started from Week 1, he would have bested Owens' best season here.

That's quite amazing.

Its really not even close.

Jackson is good but he is a 1 trick pony.

I think the Philly Offense is actually better when Jackson or Maclin get out of the game because those guys have no posession skills at all.

If teams are not playing the same coverage TO got, that's their fault. I hope they keep it that way. But if any of you still think that after burning teams this year, teams are not paying more attention to him, you are crazy.
