4/5/07-Bossier City, LA
Former Cowboy QB Carter Ready To Play AF2 Ball

It has been an interesting journey for Quincy Carter as a professional quarterback.

Once the bright young star of the Dallas Cowboys, Carter was released because of alleged drug use from the Cowboys and the New York Jets.

Now, Carter is making a new pro start in East Texas' backyard. Carter will lead the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings in arena football this season.

The team held its "Meet the Media" event Thursday afternoon. Carter was the focus of most of the media's attention and the questions to his teammates.

"It's been great to be back in football," Carter said. "One thing I cherish is the relationships that I've developed on my football team. All of my teammates have welcomed me just like I was one of their friends for years. So it's been good to get back around the guys again. I'm enjoying them, they're enjoying us but right now I'm just looking forward to Saturday night."

The Battle Wings open the season Saturday, April 7, when they host the Fort Wayne Fusion. It is a 7 p.m. start at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City.

I wish him well, despite how a lot of people feel about him.

Now that Drew Henson is gone, I've missed our 10 page game threads on the nuances of the latest Rhein Fire game. Maybe I substitute my Rhein Fire jersey and foam #1 hand with Shreveport Battlewings.

Good luck QC, but, that statement is what always made me not really like him...it was always "my football team", "I'm a leader", blah, blah blah...

At least he's back into the game and making some cash...

Bet he sucks there, too.

I have nothing but contempt for the guy. I fail to see why people feel sorry for him or wish him well. He sucked here and created a lot of drama himself by accusing the fans of being racist, accusing the front office of plotting against them, and never admitted that his play was poor. He has never owned up to his mistakes, which is the necessary precondition to any sort of forgiveness.

I hope he fails. He doesn't deserve any success in this world until he takes personal responsibility.

Yeah, sorry. I don't live by vapid and insipid notions of forgiveness.

Pity? Yeah, I can see pity for the guy.

But the notion of "forgiveness" is inapposite here.

One has to earn well-wishes. He has not earned them. We can excuse or forgive his faults in the sense we do not want him arrested or to go to hell if we are the ones who have the ability to do so. But that's not I am talking about. One has to behave in a manner deserving of well-wishes. If one constantly acts like a lout, then it is an act of moral and intellectual disarmament to take the position that we must wish him well because we must overlook his past actions. If it were correct to do so, then the act condemnation becomes meaningless and the idea of morality is destroyed. We might as well open up our prison cells because we have to forgive!

No, thank you. I could stop having contempt for the guy if he accepted personal responsibility and owned up to his mistakes. Would that he were the kind of person deserving of continued support well-wishes! But he is not. To continue to give him such without his extenuation is an act of enablement on your part.

I am not a vampire, either.

I think that's what you see here. Some pity him, and want him to turn his life around. He didn't do anything to me, except be bad for my favorite sports team, and in the grand scheme of things, that ain't such a big deal.

I don't think people need to "deserve" well-wishes. You can wish for the best for anyone. If it actually happened, the world would be awesome.
